Forced ghosting might not have been intended, but I have noticed some extremely over-sensitive AIs in the third mission, in the Bafford mansion. I encountered one guard on the floor two levels above the cellar, and he attacked. I immediately went down the movable ladder, and when leaving the room, another guard opened the gallery doors (at the other end of the corridor!), and before even seeing me, he yelled at me and came running towards me. I have been trying to get anything done at Bafford's for one hour (real time) now and am getting nowhere. I am ready to give up - on easiest difficulty level.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Other guards somehow noticed me when I was behind them and walking on the carpet. The guards also go into alert every time they pass by another AI that has been knocked out, no matter how many times one and the same guard has already seen the body. The guy with the hat at Masterson's also was an extreme pain in the butt. Together with the "don't kill" objective, this is an extremely difficult situation.
I have seen some oversensitive guards in missions for months now, and read some complaints about those on the forums as well. This does not seem to be some kind of coincidence any more. It looks rather like some update of the game introduced a problem that appears more and more frequently.
Are the guards at Bafford's (and perhaps our Masterson hat guy) somehow configured to be more sensitive than usual, or is something else responsible for this?

Those guards are just stock Bram guards - but they are nothing to be trifled with. Mrs. B only hires the best. Hat is just a reskinned thief.

Once Thief AIs get alerted to a higher level, they will stay that way until you hear them say a settling remark such as "must have been rats." Sometimes they settle back quickly, but sometimes it could take a few minutes. And if they keep seeing an unconscious body, yeah they may never drop to level 0 alert.
Basically once they were alerted, you have to assume they are on hair trigger until you hear them say "just the wind I guess," or "nothing...I'm too tense" or whatever. Until you hear the settling remark, you might step into the light behind them and have them spin around and attack.
Another indicator is their mumbling. If they aren't mumbling to themselves, you know they are on high alert too.
The black-garbed thieves are always going to be tougher than the average guard, since their vision and hearing are set to a higher level by default.

Does anyone else encounters a problem after downloading the ZIP-Archive "Matriarch v1.0.7z. As soon as the download completes, my Microsoft Defender immediately quarantines the ZIP-Archive and I'm unable to prevent it from doing it. The ZIP-Archive is visible in my downloads folder, but Microsoft Defender prevents me to do anything with it, except deleting it right there and then. Unzipping, opening or moving the ZIP-Archive into another folder is not permitted. I suppose there is some .exe file in the archive which to Microsoft Defender looks like a virus. Since most of you guys are able to run the campaign, I'm just curios how you were able to do that.
My OS is Windows 10 64-bit Home version, and I don't have any kind of antivirus software installed on my PC, except the aforementioned Microsoft Defender. I've also tried to download the file using different browsers (i.e. Firefox, Chrome, Brave, Edge) but the end result is always the same.
Any kind of help is appreciated.

There seems to be a problem with Windows Defender giving false alerts. (
https://borncity.com/win/2023/03/30/microsoft-confirms-defender-has-flagged-legitimate-urls-or-files-as-malicious-dz534539/) Here is a blog entry in which someone writes about .RAR files being falsely identified as malicious software under Windows 11. Most likely, the same is happening with the 7z archive and in Windows 10 here as well. I dimly recall having read something suggesting there is some "connection" between the .RAR and .7z packaging format, which would partially explain this problem.
I mainly use Linux and Windows 7 for playing Thief 2 at the moment, and the only machine willing to run Windows 10 here has stopped updating Windows 10, which means the latter is now outdated. This explains why I did not have this problem so far.

mission series complete, wow i loved it a lot,but i wanted to know some things i missed, mission 1=what are the codes for the 2 safes also one is alarmed how to turn that off? and 1 hieroglyphic panel and where is the first edition book? ok and for mission 2 where do i use that card to frame the person i got everything else done besides some loot
i would say i think mission 3 is the most polished in décor so amazing ,mission 2 was very fun, but the ending felt a bit underwhelming, i would think a puzzle exit in mission 2 would have felt a bit more, mission 1 very nice mission but not sure all gate could be opened to back track easy i got i think 1 maybe 2 gate but i seen 2 more i was not able to figure out
over all i would rate this series a solid 9,forsure a future classic
and i almost forgot one of the best placements of dewdrop in any mission also the grapes in refrigerator was so amazing, and more grapes in other key location i was like perfect timing
ohh also the two hammer conversation in mission one right before you cross normal was of river, i listened to it 3 times it was very well done "they have never face tribulation in there lives" omg we need those hammers in all fan missions for conversation one of them seems so angry and bitter at same time, i would never want him as a super visor :P

Where is the first edition book?In that same
apartment building that mentions the book, go into the
room of the author. Look for the
room with a chest. The code panel is in there. The combination is nearby. Clue: It's
the obelisk thing on the desk. Bigger Clue:
The order of the symbols (5 of them) is the code.Quote Posted by downwinder

Fair enough, but did you expect a pat on the back? (and if you don't get that reference, you need to go back and search a little more)
