Yeah you can do it with the right angle and momentum, but it took a long time to get it right. You don't need a speed potion, and no there are none in the mission. At first I only got halfway, but then I started doing angled running hops at the base of the roof and got a lot further. You can mantle quite far down and pull yourself up. There is no invisible wall.
Correction, you can only do one hop at the bottom and let that momentum carry you. You cannot do multiple hops while on the roof. I reread my first paragraph and wanted to clarify.

I've put the Sweel dust in the fire, but apart from it turning green nothing has happened. I tried standing in/behind it while it was green but still nothing. Am I being dim here? (perfectly likely, btw) Help appreciated. This is the first FM I've played for many years, and I'm SO happy to be back.

You have to search the rooms again for a parchment which now has appeared. This will repeat some times in the apartment of the (un)dead Mage: Use something, search for another parchment, find out what to use next, etc..

Sorry for the double post, but I think my FM is glitched. I put the
wax key mold on the receptacle block and frobbed the left lever as directed (the molten metal pours correctly), but I've been waiting for over 5 minutes
for the right lever to become frobbable and nothing's happening. I'm not seeing the
key glowing in the mold, either. Am I missing something, please?
Same problem here. Damn, I so wished I could have finished this mission. :(
Sorry, I just found the solution in this thread, and, can confirm that it works! :) (

I´m replaying this masterpiece of a mission and I do have a silly question: Where is the coin that´s worth 5 in Lady Mirandas terrace garden? According to the walkthrough it´s in the tower window, but I can´t find it anywhere

Well, it's not easy to notice the coin, but "tower window" should have rung a bell.
Go into the garden and climb the adjacent roof via the vines on the wall. Drop down from the roof onto the iron fence. Walk on top of the fence and around its corner near the tree until you reach the other end of the fence. You should now see a glint on the windowsill of the nearby tower. Grab it, but don't spend it all at once!:cheeky:

Thank you so much, I found it! :D The term "tower window" is what confused me, because right next to it is the watch station with the "central tower window" and so I thought it was the same place. I think "walk on fence" would be a good thing to add in the lootlist to describe the place. It´s not in every fanmission that garrett wears his steel-toed boots after all :D

I would probably also not have ventured there, had I not seen a faint glint, only one pixel in size, due to the comparatively high graphics resolution of 1366x768 on my laptop, from the roof that can be reached via the vines. Usually, I have lower resolution due to hardware (monitor, ancient graphics chips) restrictions, and would possibly not have seen anything. And this "tower" I also could not identify as such at first. Therefore, I went onto the roof to have a better view at the surroundings, and suddenly noticed the glint, which turned out to be the coin we were looking for.
