linked. note that I would recommend keeping the fingerprint block, and also add short description of what the bits of code do (ex. "resolving script duplication on windows")
Code:
FINGERPRINT
{
QVAR "goal_target_7" == 980
}
maybe it's time to agree on a universal FM fixup dml format everyone will adhere to (ex. always using fingerprinting, and always using the highest numbered goal target for this purpose).

Thank you Voodoo :thumb:
Q. Is that Fingerprint dml necessary as there is no loot objective in Midnight in Murkbell?
voodoo47 on 30/3/2019 at 09:39
I would consider fingerprinting a good practice - basically, making sure the dml only loads for the intended mission. shouldn't be necessary in a standard install, but as we know, not everyone is running one.
it doesn't really matter whether the qvar is used by the mission, the important part is that it's unique enough to identify it (the chances of another mission named miss21 that will have goal target 7 that point to obj 980 are zero, for all practical purposes).

Fair enough but in my dml instructions both in the Brief Summaries thread and the thread down winder started today I clearly state that dml's must only be placed in their FMsel folder, which I assume most people do and that in itself guarantees the dml is exclusive to that mission. Place it somewhere else and the chances are it won't work or worse you'll cause yourself grief beyond words.

newsflash - people are crazy. that made me remember the guy at systemshock.org who was installing FMs by ramming them into the vanilla crfs. good old times.

Hey everyone,
I have one question, has anyone still contact or at least a (working)mail adress to contact Purah??? We would really appreciate your help, maybe we could invite him to the podcast that would be amazing
klatremus on 1/8/2019 at 04:21
His name is Anthony Huso. If you google him I'm sure there's a website somewhere with an email address.
He hasn't posted on TTLG since 2007, but you could always contact him via a private message. You never know...

Purah last surfaced as far as I know ten years back to introduce Saturnine's "Rose Cottage" Sat might have an idea.

He has an RPG site (
https://www.thebluebard.com/) here, and has recently published multiple well-regarded AD&D supplements.

As usual, I'm having trouble downloading mods. In this case, all the links Purah listed in the original post lead to 404 errors, with the exception of thiefmissions.com, which I can't download bc my computer says it's unsafe. I just wanna clarify it is safe and there's nothing to worry about, or if I'm doing something wrong. Thanks!
