I've played the series again the last few days. Astounding stuff! Finally managed to nab all the paintings and all secrets on mission 3.
I sure hope we get part 4 at some point. Way to go DrK!:thumb:

AMAZING :D
Just finished this mission for the first time ever :p. The reason for this? Well, real life was kind of hectic back when it was released so it got a bit lost from my attention. This, and my earlier intention to wait for pt.4 to arrive (so to play them both at the same time, just as with 1 and 2) prevented me from playing this must-be classic earlier, to much dissaproval from my little brother here at taffer central, who occasionally urged me to finally check it out.
Better late then never. Now that I've played it during the past months I realize what've missed and what makes this such a amazing piece of work.
The new weapons for example, like the stone and ice potion, are great. I only used them for witnessing it's effects though. In the end I had too much items in my inventory to use them in a case of emergency. Would it be possible to create quick item slots for custom items as well as traditional items?
My hunt for secrets, loot and the Order Paintings has been quite succesful. I managed to find 8 secrets, 5915 loot and all the paintings. It's always such a reward to find things like this and Rocksbourg 3 provides plenty to keep a adventurer like me entertained. Well done :thumb: And the secret passageways in the hostile North Star turned up to be some helpful shortcuts and escape routes. I did wonder however how deep Garrett's pockets really are, when being able to carry all those paintings :cheeky: But heck, it's one of the charms of Thief.
I consider the underground trip of Part 3 to be just as enjoyable as the previous parts that take place on the streets and rooftops. It's a dark, sometimes claustrophobic place, which only daylight (or isn't it?) comes from some stained-glass windows. The whole mission breaths a feel of darkness, secrecy and magic. While the compound is already a pretty spooky place, the Dark Zone send shivers down my spine at certain moments. Like when having the Dark Star and Garrett has to run for his life with monstrous cries in his wake. Terrifying .
The place is hugh, much more outstretched then expected. At first the South Star is your world, which is already quite big, but then The North Star and Dark Zone open up which make you realize: incredible that dromEd can handle something like this :wot:. Only some stuttering occures when entering anything area, everything else workes fine. Bravo!
Ink and Dust is just too good to play only once. I'll definitely intent to replay this mission, as it's with no doubt one of best FMs ever designed.
Visiting the maps room, with the large map of the city of Rocksbourg on the wall, and reading the volumes of tales and legends of the city (describing all kinds of fearful entities) made me realise the magnificent world and the potential of the city of Rocksbourg that DrK managed to create. To my knowledge it's most detailled and engrossing city ever created in the history of FMs. So many new paths for the author to take, new stories to uncover, new places to visit, this is a work of art. And can even encourage other authors to make a standalone FM, taking place in this city.
DrK, Ink and Dust is your best work so far. May you continue to find the inspiration and motivation to keep this enchanting story going till the conclusion. Very glad you recently continued working on Part 4.
Bon chance! Et merci.

Thanks a lot for your compliments. Now you do realise why it takes me time to build fms :cheeky:
Honestly, I think Ink and dust will always be my masterpiece. With Rocksbourg 4 I manage to improve the graphics somehow, maybe atmosphere as well, but overall I don't think the content will be as deep as with Rocksbourg 3.

I knew this would be a problem, so I considered them as bonuses more than real tools. I don't know if it's possible to create custom slots, that would help for sure. Anyway with Rocksbourg 4 I'm trying to limit the amount of objects.

that's the whole point of the secret actually, to give the player (especially ghosters) a shortcut and relatively safe corridors, just like with all the ventilation shafts.

If you knew what I've been through to make it work decently... :laff:
Rocksbourg 4 is getting even worse actually.

Well glad you see it this way, that's what I intended to do. I wanted to create an universe around Rocksbourg just like LGS did with the City, to have a strong and rich background, some kind of an open world. Hell with LGS' work, there are debates, interpretations, alternate stories which are being made. Like Raputo or the Baron, that you never meet ingame, but you know they exist in the City. Like the fan project to map the City, including quarters from readables, etc...
I don't have the pretention to do it as well as LGS, but at least I try ;)

is there a lootlist for this Fanmission available?

I just want to pop in and say that I have just finished a second playthrough of this masterpiece, and I must say I enjoyed it even more this time around, when I knew the basic layout and plot, etc.
The first time, the mission was a bit overwhelming, but now I could enjoy the little details much more, enjoy the scenery more and better focus on loot hunting.
BTW, I loved the books about Rocksbourg tales and legends.
Finished with one missed painting, 3 missed secrets and 705 missed loot, and after a grand total of only two reloads (one after I walked a little too far before making the first turn in the 'light maze', and one after clumsily falling backwards off the ladder in the spot just before you grab the Dead Shadow).
Thanks to klatremus for his website and the loot and secrets list, so I could see what I had missed. I had missed a surprising number of candlesticks (5 or 6) - probably because I played with a rather low gamma setting.
I got confused when Interpreter Thales told me it "would not be tolerated" that I visit the other six elemental zones. But then he didn´t actually care when I did...

I replayed part 1, 2 and now 3.
Awesome but very difficult to remember all.
I just don't get what to use on the big glyph near a statue.
Can someone explain this please?

If you're talking about the one on the floor near the statue in Ink and Dust, you just frob it If it's the one
in a secret passage with a female statue pointing to it, I don't think you can use it for anything, I was never able to do anything with it, so I assume it's just there for atmosphere...

Yep.
It's a reference to thief 3, to the hag and its statues.
