and not everyone just happens to have a "fool's pit" in the entryway to their quarters! :erg:
Well Thales doesn't trust his own men so he put this hole to keep them away from his quarters. It looks like it's efficient :cheeky:
And it's a good way to make it a safe place for the player.
Btw, they aren't undead, more like dark keepers.
Garrett's Shadow on 1/9/2009 at 01:25
they are'nt undead?
damn, they must be from the Netherlands or something then, so pale! LOL!
and iffen dey aint haints, why do they keep up wit dat "jOiN uS, JoIn Us NoW", complete with full Hammer Haunt sepulchral reverb!
hmmm????
(tho my all time fave freaky undead/supernatural sound is that one that's like an LP played at way to fast a speed, freakazoid!)
I think I get it now! It's like a paraphrasing of something James Tiberious Kirk once said:
"I'm not undead. I just work with undead"!!! ;)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------um, what's with the secret glyph and the frozen woman/statue thing?
kinda looks like she touched it and was instantly frozen, when i touch it - nothing happens!
"instructions about the keys" - oh yah, that's helpful! (not!)
i can think of a few things i got that can fit any number of those obscure "clues"! :erg:
hmmm, mayyybe not as obscure as i first thought! ;)
Gee, first time i ever saw an invincible zombie actually SASHAY when walking!
(musta been a supermodel in life)
DUDE! the air room! - you are a sick man, you know that! ;)
Lets see, how many air ropes were in that room?
And how many GD near heart attacks did i have when EVERY SINGLE JUMP looked like a miss!!!!
(making FMs like this may be therapeutic for you (or maybe just cathartic for your need to subject terror on others! :ebil:), but it's edging me towards the need for a nitro gylcerin pill prescription!) :tsktsk:
back in the hallway, OH STONE, WONDERFUL BEE-EE-UTIFUL STONE!
(~goes prone on the floor, kisses the stone for being so wonderfully SOLID!~)
aw hell, i am in the quarters of the soul who's sposed to have the Living Breath stone, can't find it anywhere! thought he was sposed to have it in his quarters, according to Garrett's instructions!
(also have'nt seen any kind of "light maze" there!)
and what is up with the "carrier" type thing dead in the other brothers quarters? was the brother attacked?
i frobbed that gylph near his bed, found him shaking in that cave. wtf is wrong with him?

I've just had a lot a LOT of fun playing this mission!
I'm stuck at the "book of names" bug, though. Very odd. Tried putting it everywhere... Before Thales starts talking, whilst he's talking, after he's finished talking... Tried dropping it, tried throwing it, on the little table, on the floor... (It's actually really hard to get it to drop on the little table... Garrett seems to have grown arms to twice the length when it comes to putting down that book... When you "drop" it appears half a mile away from you. Could that be significant to why there's a bug problem there, perhaps?)
Anyway, I don't know what else to do to get it to work! I've only installed the things I needed to install to get this FM to work, running Windows XP and with the UK version of Thief 2.
It's such a shame I can't quite finish off the very last bit but never mind...this mission has been exceptionally good!
Apart from some difficulty with finding the key to the Room of Forbidden Books (couldn't hear the conversation with the clues in, and thought I'd checked all of those footlockers) and all the characters with the same name ("Thales", "Tahles" and another one which was so similar...TOO SIMILAR! VERY CONFUSING!) I think the gameplay in this mission was a million times better than the previous two, which famously had those far too difficult key-hunts and secret-switch-hunts.
Absolutely amazing stuff. How long til part four?! Before Christmas, yeah?! :D

Not likely. I threw it into the fire while standing next to Thales (or whatever his name is - the guy who waits in his living quarters upstairs for you, behind an odd pit in the passage leading to his rooms, and gives you the first set of instructions after you begin the mission). I even went to the place where there are several levers, near the door to Thales' quarters, and tossed the book across the room into his direction, and every time the objective ticked off.
It is unlikely that anyone will ever know why this bug occurs with some
Thief 2 installations, but not with others.
Sometimes, installing the tnhscripts and Gaylesavers scripts mysteriously solved the problem, but in other cases it did not help. And I had none of these scripts installed, and it still worked every time, with Windows XP and Windows 98 SE. However, if you have not installed these scripts and install them now, you must play the whole mission again, since saved games created while playing without scripts will not use the scripts even if you install them afterwards.
This bug is an evil spirit that will haunt DrK to the end of his days. It would even drive him mad if he was not already known as "the mad architect of Rocksbourg".:cheeky:
If you have fulfilled all other objectives, then I think all you have to do is go to this other person there who wanted you to find some other book. I believe it was the book from the room of forbidden books. This guy would now open a passage back to the City, and that's it. So, visit this guy again and consider it done.:thumb:

It's a real shame to not be able to finish properly and neatly and get to the stats screen but never mind.
Now I need to choose another fan mission to play! I'm so new to these!

Ha! Welcome to the rest of your life, my friend. Do enjoy many more fan missions, there's hundreds out there and many are actually better than the original game. who'd have believed so much could be done with the Dark Engine.

I've been having a lot of fun playing many of the really famous missions which I'd always heard about, but just ignored for the seven years I've been on these forums. They're as much a part of Thief as the OMs and I'm having so much fun playing them!
The only trouble is that, as another newbie to FMs was warned in another thread, if you play all the amazing ones first, all the rest may seem a bit simple by comparison. I may have to just go back to the start and play them in order instead! Oh what a chore :)

Thank you for your hard work. Your missions are some of my sons and my favorites.

And the meeting room is the meeting room. I mean, it's in the north star, at a moment you assist a meeting between interpreter Thesal and a crowd of Souls. It looks like a circular library, similar to the ones in the keeper compound from thief 3. It's near the Vine zone.
I can't find the
salamander blood
in the meeting room.
I suppose the meeting room is the roundabout what we can see from a platform at one of the "hallways" where a discussion started between some guys and the elevator (lift) is nearby.
I suppose with first floor you mean the first floor downstairs of this hallway? There is only a boy and a soul, and sometimes another person comes. But nothing to find (maybe some loot).
Also in the deepest part I don't find any items but loot.
Maybe I didn't understand "meeting room" correct as English is not my mother-language?
