Well, first I must say "sorry" for my bad English, but I'm a German an only 15.
I have a funny problem with Thief2. Last time, I installed T2X and I had the problem that every time when I started it the game crashed showing the Windows-Standard-Message. I could see the Intro an after the Intro I could see the Menu for a split second. I wrote my problem into my favourite German-Forum. The result was, that I patched my Thief2 to V1.18 (Premier-Patch) and ran the ddfixGUI.exe. This helped me in one case: the game didn't crash anymore... perhaps I should add: I can see the Intro an can click on "new game". Then I see the Briefing movie; but: when I click on continue (after I've read the mission-aims) the game crashes. Again the Windows-Standard-Message.

Sometimes I can see a glimpse of the game. It looks like this: (

After that I came here. I wrote my problem into the T2X-Forum (but) addink wanted me to come to the Legacy Gaming Technical Help Forum.

First thing you should do is get Thief2 working.
T2X is basically Thief2 using different data files. So, if Thief2 doesn't run, chances are extremely small T2X will. [...] ask for help in the (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=153) Legacy Gaming Technical Help Forum. Be sure to mention your system configuration: CPU, Operating System, Videocard and its driver version.
So, well; I'm here.
My configuration:
Operating System: Windows XP, SP2
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 CPU, Hyperthreating, (2x3.00GHz)
Videocard: NVidia-Geforce 8600 with the actual driver.
What I should mention is: I've already played Thief2 and even T2X on this System before and I'm quite sure that I haven't done big changes. I only removed Thief2 two or three months ago; now I've reinstalled it.

Uninstall T2X and T2.
Start a new TMA (T2) install. Patch if needed. THEN RUN THE INSTALLER FOR T2X.
You must have T2 installed and ready to get T2X to run.
Entschultigung mir bitte. Meine Deutsch sind sehr schlect. Viellen Gluck.

Well, in fact I did install T2 two times, patched it an then I installed T2X. I don't really think that a third installation would help me in this case. Or do you think that there is still something wrong; I mean during the installation.
By the way: you can speak (just) in English to me. I'm trying to understand as good as I can.

Given that you are using ddfix, I think we can assume that Thief2 won't run out of the box.
And given your screenshot's message it appears that even with ddfix you still have troubles initiating a supported resolution.
Having one of the last Thief supporting videocards myself, I've not played with ddfix (yet), so I'm unable to help you. But I'm sure someone here can give you some pointers on correctly configuring ddfix with thief2.
I assume you've checked out (

Well, it ran on this system about three months ago but without the ddfix.

Yes
Yes, of course; I've checked it out... but it didn't help me indeed.
