So I'm playing T2 for the zillionth time from my original CDs (and T2Fix) and something is beginning to bug me. I'm on Lvl 2, and when I pick up loot out of boxes, etc, I'm not being told what they are. Like the little box that has Lucky WhatsHisFace dice. I open the box, I hear the loot "ching", but it doesn't tell me that I've picked up the dice. I can tell I have them by scrolling to my loot inventory and the dice are there, but no other notification.
I thought it used to tell us that. But my memory could just be janky.
In particular, I got the dude's steak recipe (the spider guy), but I can't read the recipe. I thought we could at one point. Or has that point passed because of technology and old games?
Thanks for any input. And yeah, It's been a minute since I was here!

Turn auto-equip ON in the options menu, sometimes it's deactivated by default.

Okay, yeah that is kinda what I was thinking, although I don't like auto-equip because I pickpocket an arrow from a guard and it switches to the bow before I can brain him with the blackjack.
I guess I thought the actual contents of the recipe were available for us to read, but I guess not. My imagination after 25 years...
Thanks for the tip!

This would be a good one for a future New Dark patch to fix, imo, if any more are made. Even though I am well-versed and accustomed to using auto-equip then just hitting '2' (blackjack) after picking most anything up, it would be nice to not have to do that.
It's also less-than-ideal for when you're sneaking up behind an archer guard with the blackjack prepped and then you pickpocket their arrow. It switches away from blackjack to arrow and you have to quickly get back to your blackjack so you can knock them out. I can't remember if it does this when pickpocketing keys, too, but either way, I hope it can get fixed someday

I'm not sure, I don't remember ever 'reading' the recipe, but maybe? I always just remembered Garrett's inner-voice commenting on Mynell's
secret ingredient when entering the area. (Unless there's a readable text found somewhere other than Sven Mynell's "Mynell Steaks" room (6013)?)
I just tested the Mynell Steak area, and don't see a readable recipe anywhere. I found the key to open Mynell's safe where you get what
appears like a readable document, however it's actually treated like loot (like coins or gems) where it's worth "50"
Goods. So it's not actually readable :( At least not in present T2 form, that I can see.
