The only advice I can give you is to reload a savegame from before the first time you talked to Jonas and got the task to take the empty crystal. You can also start from the beginning of the mission again, of course.

dml to fix secrets count when playing on normal (v_1.6 + v_1.7) and loot count on normal (v_1.7), courtesy Glypher.
Fixes
- End game stats now show 12 secrets on normal, not 13
- Correct end game stats on normal (v_1.7)
Code:

Important_Updated zip. v_1.6 is badly broken when playing mission 2 via T2Fix_1.27 and earlier versions, the conversation with Flik in the Raven's Nest that triggers the Gate control key does NOT work, so from now on players are strongly urged to ONLY play v_1.7 (includes the latest scripts) available (

WalkthroughRicebug never wrote a walk for 2016 campaign release of Bad Venture (only wrote one for Raven's Nest), so here is my attempt. I managed to find solutions to how all the goals are triggered and completed, which you have to do in the correct order otherwise you'll get horribly confused as to what triggers/completes each goal

Well, I'm trying to play this FM and am at a complete loss for what to do next. . I have the blocked district key, I've completed the wine cellar objective and robbed lady Adaline's house. There doesn't seem to be anywhere else I can go. What do I do?
EDIT: Ok, I re-read a walkthrough and it seems like you're supposed to hit a green bush against the west wall to make a vine grow out of the crevasse. So I can progress again, but how in the hell was anyone supposed to know to do that??
One more thing: I got the pickaxe, but there doesn't seem to be any way to equip it. It's not in my inventory either. Has anyone else had this problem?

check your key bindings for "next weapon" and "previous weapon" - the default is the "+" and "-" keys on the numberpad use those to get to the pickaxe.

This mission is not for the faint hearted, my best advise is to listen to every conversation VERY carefully, they contain a lot of hints.
Also you'll probably get the gist quite quickly but just to let you know a lot of the conversations are not only triggered by frobbing different AI's but very regularly the conversations come in multiple parts, so you need to frob that AI, once, twice, three times or more till you get to the end of that conversation in full, if you don't do that goals won't trigger/complete, keys etc won't be given to you and you'll end up get horribly stuck again.
And yeah, don't be afraid to use a walkthrough. :)

So I'm learning. .
I haven't yet encountered any AI I can have a conversation with, or at least any AI that are frobbable, though. The main problem I have with this FM is that its very easy for Garrett to get "stuck" on several parts of the terrain and there are areas that are more difficult for him to walk through than they should be. (such as a set of steps that should be easy to walk up, but he can only do it slowly, like trudging through thick mud.) It's odd and disorienting---mantling up onto things is more difficult in a lot of places and the graphics---while beautiful, do make it a lot more difficult to notice things that are frobbable. All in all, it's not a very intuitive mission, but I want to find out what happens, so I'll keep soldiering on and see how far I get!

I've gotten much farther, but now I have a new problem: I need to know how to get into Thereon's room, as well as the other one in the Stumbled Traveller. The walkthrough says to shoot a rope arrow into the roof eaves post on the west side of the inn and jump from the rope to the thin metal walkway to access the windows but all the roof eaves are metal and no rope arrow will stick. What do I do?
fortuni on 22/8/2024 at 07:48
At the very top of the roof at the bottom of the V, look carefully there’s a small square wooden post sticking out
The reason why some of the steps are so slow is for some reason Soul Tear used invisible ladders as steps, so you climb those steps at the same speed as you do ladders, and then have to jump off the ladder at the top.
Lady Taffer on 23/8/2024 at 05:41
I saw that too, and that's what I figured I had to do, but when I shot a rope arrow into the beam, the rope itself is too short for me to reach. I figured I had to climb up to the nearby balcony and jump up to the roof of the circular tower, since I'd be able to reach the rope from there, HOWEVER, I can't seem to do that. I keep getting stuck on the edge of the tower roof, and am unable to climb up. See what I mean about the mantling problem? :(
EDIT: Ah! I managed to get into room 1 from inside the Stumbled Traveller, KO the guard and climb out the window onto the ledge from there, and now I should be able to get to the window to Thereon's room. Much easier than I thought it would be, but I swear, that room had been locked before. . . maybe I triggered something without realizing and access to it opened up. Anyway, onwards!

*Sigh* Now where is Jonas' diary? :nono:
