btw, I'm not finished yet but I 'm close, unless more objectives pop up. And I only now discovered there is a Potion that protects you from wasps and eyeballs (and gasbags?). That would have made things A LOT easier in the hive. But I did figure out the Crayman mask, which incidentally also protected me from the eyeballs, but only for a time. They now regard me as an enemy with or without the mask.

That may have been a coincidence, or a consequence of how it's done. It was not the intention for the mask to protect you from the eyeballs, though.

I stood right in front of an eyeball in the burrick tunnels with my mask on, and it just looked at me. So I would just ignore it as I made my way back and forth in the mission. Later, it attacked. Now I can't say how long I stood in front of it, so I may have walked away before it abused me. So there is room for a coincidence here.

I experienced exactly the same with the "eyeball plant" in the tunnel leading from Nilbog to the swamp area, but without even having found the mask. So although there
is something weird going on which may delay an eyeball plant's hostile reactions to the player, it's most likely not connected to the "crayman mask".

If FMSel is confused, maybe you can cure it with the following procedure:
1. Uninstall every mission you have currently installed with this FMSel.
2. Check out the FMs folder inside your Thief 2 NewDark installation folder. There should be only three files and folders there now: A folder called .fmsel.cache (should be empty), a file called fmsel.ini, and maybe a backup of that file, fmsel.bak. If there is any other folder than .fmsel.cache, it is most likely a leftover from playing a mission. Usually, the folder has a name that reveals which FM it was used for.
3. Move the fmsel.ini file out of the FMs folder to somewhere else which you will remember. If there are any folders other than .fmsel.cache, move them away as well.
4. Restart Thief 2 NewDark. FMSel should show the installation dialog again ("where are your missions?" etc.). After finishing that dialog, FMSel will go through the available missions and create entries for them in the table displaying FMs to play. Once FMSel has done that, you should have a working FMSel installation again. You will just "lose" the icons showing you which FM you already completed and which one you were currently playing.
5. If this works, check out whether Godbreaker will run flawlessly now. If so, you may keep the old fmsel.ini and any folders you have moved away for a while, but once you are convinced that everything works well again, you can delete the old fmsel.ini and any folders you moved away.

Thanks yet again, baeuchlein, but I haven't the vaguest idea how to uninstall FMs from FMSel. I've tried deleting them from the FM file (Steam/steamapps/Thief2/FMs) but they just keep showing up in FMSel anyhow. How do I actually uninstall the FMs from FMSel, please? P.S. If I uninstall the loader, when I reinstall all the same FMs just show up.

In FM Sel, point your mouse cursor at the FM you want to uninstall, right click and in the menu that pops up choose "Uninstall".

In addition to what Tannar said: The missions will still show up in FMSel even if they are "uninstalled". This is normal.
To "install" in this case means that FMSel has prepared the missions so that Thief 2 NewDark can start them. For example, this means that the FM archive (the .zip file you downloaded when you downloaded the missions from the internet) is unpacked into a folder in the folder FMs in the Thief 2 NewDark folder, and it also means that any saved games already present (from a former playthrough) are unpacked.
To "uninstall" a mission with FMSel then just means that the saved games and screenshots are put into a zip file (called something like Godbreaker.FMSelBak.zip, for example), and after that, the folder with the unpacked FM archive is erased from the FMs folder. This should clean up some potential leftovers from playing missions and free up some disk space while still preserving saved games from the mission. If the player decides to play the mission again later on, he/she can install the mission again with FMSel and will get his/her old savegames back as well.
Downloading the mission zip files from the internet and placing them in a folder for FMs on the hard disk ist not meant by "installing with FMSel".
By the way, if you select a mission in FMSel and then press the "Play FM" or "Start FM" button, the mission will be installed automatically by FMSel if it has not been installed before. Uninstalling them, on the other hand, can only be done by right-clicking on a mission entry and choosing "Uninstall".

Nope. I'm
not getting the option to uninstall any of the FMs when I right-click on them in FMSel. I'm also getting a warning when the FMSel window opens: 'Archive repository/collection path "C:\Users\Valued Customer\Documents\My Games\TMA FMs" was not found or a valid directory.' I've tried to change that, to no avail and I don't know if it has any bearing on why my FMSel is misbehaving.
After I close the first warning, I get a second warning: 'Following FM directories were ignored due to exceeding the max name length of 30: T2FM-BreathingCorpses[MULTI][06May2017]'. Is it supposed to be doing that?
At this point I'm seriously thinking of trying to uninstall TMA and getting rid of FMSel and trying a different FM loading program. :(
I really want to play the Godbreaker FM.
