Hi fellow taffers,
Just can't get T2 to work on my laptop (HP Pavilion dv5) and I really need my fix of thief :(
I formated my computer and installed win7 in hopes that I'll manage to play Thief here, unlike in my previous OP, Vista.
Did a lot of tries and tries again... deferent V1.18 patechs, TafferPatcher, t2_v119 and lastly the t2_v121 (after reinstalling Thief yet again and patching it with the bigger version of v1.18).
After anything I do I get a deferent error message... something about my video card noy being supported, can't find the CD (they maybe more, just can't remember it all). The last message said: "your video hardware is not supported or no supported mode was found".
I don't know what to do antmore :confused: all this searching and English reading is hard as it is.
Please help poor little me, dear taffers!

Fresh install of Win 7?
Try downloading and running the DirectX 9 upgrade from Microsoft first.

All you need is the latest version of Taffpatcher. It has the the official 1.08 fix already as well as NewDark v1.21.

Hi gnartsch, thanks for the help.
I did try that before my last try, but I got the link from an old thread, so maybe it wasn't the updated version.
Do I need to uninstall Theif first?

Well, I do not know what exactly you did.
So, I would recommend to uninstall Thief, reboot.
Then install Thief again and TafferPatcher on top.
Do yourself a favour and do NOT install into the standard folder like 'C:\Program Files' or something,
but into some another folder, such as C:\Games\, C:\Thief2 or whatever you prefer.
Waht are you installing from ? From a CD or is it an Online-Download?
In any case I would recommend to check the (

Which TafferPatcher version should I install (I mainly want to play FMs)? The beta one?

Yes, use the beta. It is able to install Thief for you. See the HOW TO section.

I assume you installed it fresh?
Then it's ok. Just drop TafferPatcher into the Thief2 directory and start it.
It's best to drop it there, since you might want to call it later again,
e.g. in case you want to play around with the mods it allows you to install.

I get goosebumps thinking this just might work and I'll be able to play FMs/OMs again!!! WooHoo! I've missed it so much!

I guess all the mods included in TafferPatcher can be recommended without restrictions.
Well, ... personally I prefer to not install the 'Enhancement Pack'.
If you want an original Look of the game... then you will know what I mean.
But try it out yourself. You can return any time to the TafferPatcher and install/uninstall whatever you want.
Oh, and do not worry about the term BETA. TafferPatcher is as stable as software potentially can get. :thumb:
Probably the author simply did not find the time to call it FINAL due to NewDark coming up not too long ago.
