Better safe than sorry, I've played many fms where rope arrows were scarce and/or couldn't be recovered due to the heavy fall it implied. :p

True :P Actually now that you've said that, I'm having flashbacks to all the times I've taken fall damage because I was too stubborn to leave a rope arrow behind :laff:

Ha ha, I guess I'm spoiled for life. Since the days of my roof climbing antics I always buy as much stackable stuff from the store as possible, i.e. potions and scrolls (one rope arrow is a must, though). (And actually I can't play any game anymore without immediately trying for ways to get off the route the level designer has intended.)

Flashbombs are usually a high priority item for human levels. So useful if spotted to be able to run, stun, then turn around and BlackJack them.
If playing a skill or mission that allows me to kill, then I might favour buying extra broadheads over fire arrows, as I find them more effective. A fire arrow might not kill a charging enemy and you might not have time for a second shot before they get to you, plus if in darkness you can keep sniping a hunting enemy until they die or flee with broadheads, but the moment you whip out a fire arrow they see you and again you might only get one shot before having to move, which might not be enough to put them down or force them into flee mode.

Flashbombs, rope and water arrows are my essentials for pretty much any kind of mission, often a few moss arrows as well. I almost never buy speed or invisibility potions, because I never use them: basically, when I have them, I keep saving them for a rainy <strike>day</strike> situation, and end up finishing by other means - I'm pretty conservative, and even if I have healing potions I'll save them if there's food or healing fruits available (or a healing fountain)
