I've been playing this excellent mission (in expert) a few hours now and so far I have gathered 3396 loot and ticked off every objective except the loot objective and that's why I turn to the forum for help. Please, help a poor taffer before he goes mad(der)! *qolelis gets down on his knees begging*
It's a really great mission (brings back some sweet memories from the good old T1-years). It's hard, but not too hard... except getting enough loot  I'm so frustrated right now. According to the lootlist the Wayrest Tavern is the place to go, but how do I get there?
I have tried stacking crates near the starting point, but that was a dead end.
I think i have done everything and been everywhere, except the Wayrest Tavern.
Down in the sewers I found a locked gate. Is this the way to Wayrest Tavern? How do I open the locked gate? Key? Switch?
I should really go and get something to eat, but I want to finish this mission first (work before pleasure ;) ). Yes, see how dedicated I am; I even skipped dinner for Garrett. :erm: (hmmm... I think I need to get out more ;) ).

You can get in a couple of different ways. Didn't you have to get in to get started in the mission? I thought that was the only way into the main part of the city right at the beginning? Maybe I'm remembering wrong. Anyway
There's a banner mounted over one a walkway to a gate that is right ahead of you when you start. The Wayrest Inn is on your left. If you put a rope arrow into the wood rail the banner is mounted on, you can open the bathroom window, which will be to your left and enter the Inn.
Yes, this was the first thing I did (and that was easy), but this building is not the Wayrest Tavern, It's a private residence. The Wayrest Tavern is to the right.
The thing is that in the loot list, the Wayrest Tavern is mentioned and someone in this forum also said that this Tavern is accessible via the sewers. Maybe this was a false clue?
Anyway, I just realized that I missed ripping off the paintings in the
highpriest's secret gallery.
Hopefully, these items will tick off the loot objective.
Thanks for your concern!

The building that is accessible from the sewers is the Bridge Inn. As far as I know, the Wayrest Tavern is the building you go through at the beginning of the mission, though of course I could be wrong. To get into the Bridge Inn,
you need to smash some boards that are blocking an entrance down in the sewers.
I entered the Bridge Inn by climbing a little roof (in a dark alley) with the help of a rope arrow and then picking the window lock. I opened the window and entered a room with a sleeping guard. He awoke and rushed out, when he returned I blackjacked him. I didn't find the sewer entrance until later and then I realized that this would probably have been a much easier way to enter.
The building you go through at the beginning of the mission is a private residence, inhabited by an old man who sleeps when you enter his bedroom. He had (yes, _had_ ;) ) some loot in a locked cupboard with glass doors. On the map this building has no name. This building is to the left from the starting point.
I'm sorry to say it, but there is a mistake in the loot list. The building that is called Wayrest Inn is actually the private residence I'm talking about above. If you would play the mission again you would see on the map what I mean. On the map there is no place called Wayrest Inn. There is a place called Wayrest Tavern, though, but that building is to the right from the starting point and is not accessible (as far as I know... and believe me, I have tried).
The above loot list error did confuse me quite a bit and I got obsessed with getting inside the (inaccessible) Wayrest Tavern (and now I'm writing long and nitpicky posts about it :erm: ).
Also, the building called Waterbridge Inn in the loot list is actually called Bridge Inn, as you so rightly called it in your previous post.

Sorry if the loot list caused you confusion. In the 2 years or so it's been posted, nobody has ever mentioned the errors you pointed out. If I have time at some point, I will correct it and send in a new version. :)

I am playng this mission for the first time now. Started on Normal, but I want to get to the cathedral area, so playing on Expert now.
It's a great THIEFY mission.
I just would like the builder Skarza or someone else, if possible, to refine it at some point.
He or she has already mentioned some faults.
But this mission is incredable, so I'd like to see it reborn as a real genuin Thief Fan Mission, as it is! perhaps for T2.
Anyway: My compliments to the builder Skarza!
Some remarks though:
I found it very hard to BJ some guards, standing under some lights.
The strategic point of view is awesome, since you really REALLY have to trigger your opponent to follow you in the way you want them too, which isn't easy :ebil: :sly:
But I think the rope arrows could be a bit longer to cling onto, or when you use a crate, got from far away :joke:, it isn't easy to jump onto the crate at all.
but if I get onto the crate and jump onto the rope, I mostly slide back to the ground again. :nono: :nono:
It's a Thieflike Hard To Do mission, and I like it :joke: :sly: :ebil:
