Great FM with lots of places to explore.
I've been playing for nearly 2 hours now and have visited the catherdral, dungons, Inn and the first house you come to but can't find Drannor or the lockpicks? Has anybody found these yet?
I can't help you, just adding my thumbs up for the fm. Very moody hammerite areas..cool shadow sculpting, fiendish traps, dark T1 vibe..parts remind me of cragscleft..i like it! Another cool first mission. (Anyone else seeing a pattern of high quality first attempts round here  )

Well, I just thought I'd say that I was planning on posting myself about what a great first attempt this is.. Excellent architecture and variety... Better than many designer's second or 3rd attempts..heh
And I'm in the same boat as you... I'm hopelessly stuck on trying finding Drannor and am being driven slowly insane by all of the doors and chests I can't open due to the lack of lockpicks... I think just about everyone I've come across is either unconscious or very, very dead (I'm playing on normal the first time through..heh)... The map seems to be one of the most well-done maps I've ever seen in an FM, but it has me completely lost as far as finding the lampost Drannor is supposed to be standing next to is concerned...

Opens the batwing doors with a "squeak!"
I tried this one late last night, and as a result, went on a bloody killing spree, thanks to blessed Tiredness. Reaction time disabled...swordfighting abilities slow...die messily. So anyway, this morning I tried again and got fairly well along.
Drannor -- rather, the meeting place -- is at the top of an inclined street. At the end of the street is an archer. To the right is the lampost. Mantle up to discover a mystery. Look around to see the clues. As a pure hint, you'll need a few crates to get up to a certain overhang close by.
As for my own problems, I'm sort of stuck as to what to do next, after fulfilling most of the goals. I'm on Normal, so I may be missing out on something. The second gate enclosing the Hammer chapel is a problem. I can lean around and frob the lever, but it doesn't do anything, as far as I can tell. I'm taking a break right now, but I'll try some more later on.

I'm having fun with this one! Lots of places to get into. It was a bit frustrating trying to get my lockpicks, but now I've got them and I'm on my way! :)

Heh..I was just about to post that I found Drannor's note, but I guess Silver Sorrow beat me to the punch...
But now I'm stuck again:
Where the bloody 'ell is my 2nd lockpick???!! There are gates everywhere around the locksmith area and I can't get through.. Haven't been able to get to the cathedral, either.. And most of the hard-to-get-to areas I have managed to painfully make my way into have been more or less fruitless... Sounds like Nightwalker got 'em.. Any directions on how to get to and into the locksmith's place?
The locksmiths -
From the Inn near your start point, go through the kitchen, into the pantry and out the small door at the back. Go straight across the sewer cover to the archway opposite and follow that street. When you get to a tunnel that slopes down on your right, follow it and at the bottom, go left. You'll go through a tunnel with metal floors and come out into a square. The Locksmith's is on the right. (And it's a proper pain to get into, as well.) :)
I've been most everywhere and I'm still bigtime short on loot. I'll have to do a very careful search later.

Has anyone mantled the lightpost meeting place without alerting that archer guard?
fornever on 28/3/2002 at 03:44
I'm having the same problem as Silver Sorrow with trying to get into the Cathedral or whatever it is.. Can't get the inner gate to open even though I can reach around and pull the lever... I don't really need to go there... I'm only playing on normal at the moment and only need to finish up the loot requirement, which I'm pretty sure I can easily do once I'm in there...
As far as alerting the guy by the ledge goes..I was playing pretty much commando style, but I was unsuccessful in sneaking up on him and just ended up taking him out...
Oh, and Nightwalker.. A few pieces of loot you might have overlooked:
You can steal some of the paintings in the inn... There was also one of the ordinary black bottles in there that actually counted for loot... And you might want to check for guards carrying bags of loot around their belts.. There was one closed off area that was really hard to get to, and the only point I saw to getting in there was to take out the guard and grab his loot... I believe instead of taking the tunnel towards the blacksmith (by the way, thanks..I would have never found it without your help...I had actually already looted the house across the street and still had no idea that the blacksmith shop was there), you just take the other direction going down the metal ramp, and then follow that to the end where you'll reach a bridge.. The guy is patrolling behind the locked gate...
I just restarted on Expert...I thought I'd try to get some perspective (I never did fulfill the loot requirement, but I'll take a closer look at the Inn this time). Unfortunately, I'll have to be careful not to massacre anyone this time around... *sigh* It sucks having morals. :)
