The names were funny, and the talking head and bouncing skull were amusing as well. But I find myself stuck. I got to Lady Calendra's house and had that conversation with Mercedes in the basement section with the spider. But where do I go from here? I can only backtrack as far as the sewer room. I can't fall up through the pipe that dropped me there.
So there must be an exit or a continuation from the point of my conversation with Mercedes. There was an adjoining room with 3 boulders blocking the passageway, but that seemed a dead end with only a gated exit. Is there a switch that I missed that would allow me through?

yes. there is a switch near the locked gate that comes after the three boulders.

Thnks Burt...I checked that area three times without finding the switch. Since I knew it was there from your message, I took it slow and found it right away.

...before playing Calendra's Legacy??? Cause my friend, which has a quick internet connection, will bring me tonight a CD-R with the CL mission. I'm just wondering if I should finish CC before playing CL. Cause CL is the follow-up to CC?
Thanks.

Definitely finish Calendra's Cistern first! Legacy takes up right from the end of that mission, pretty much and you'll appreciate it more if you've finished Cistern. It won't take that long to complete. :)

Hmmm, it may sound intriguing and perhaps I will hear a lot of flames, but let me ask: what's so great about Calendra's Cistern? I'd really love to hear people's opinions. What do you like so much about this mission and why?
When people talk about different T1 missions, it's always as if Calendra's Cistern was absolutely superior, way better than all other T1 FMs. Somethingb like: "T1 FMs? *Shrug* There is Calenra's Cistern and there is all the rest."
What's so different? The Farkus shop? Mercedes? What?
Please post.

well for me it was:
the emotion!... the great cutscenes and music, great plot and overall feeling of closeness with the characters. the depictions were awesome... sort of "honor among thieves" type stuff. great plot too
the architecture was also great... i love a good roof mission. The city felt huge
i personally didnt care about the in game store, although it was innovative.
and i also thought some of the optional puzzles were hard, like how to get in that safe.
but it had cool scenes too, like when Garret sign the guest register as "Garret, master thief" to mock them all! and how he gets to go to a party.
the voice acting and scriptiing was groundbreaking at the time, especially for thief 1 engine.
the ending cutscene was the best part, IMHO... not the bed, but the sort of "reality" of it... theres all the chaos in the world, but garret is just a simple man... he says "Ill just let the city rot, and enjoy the moment" or something... that hit a nerve with me cause thats sort of how i view life at times.
just an excellent mission. Purah is a great storyteller.
If you dont like it, thats fine, thats acceptable...but what other missions are so much better?

I liked the names given to some of the guards. Good sense of humour here. That made it stand out from the others, though I won't grade it relative to other FM's. Thats like comparing and contrasting children.
Of course, the ending with Mercedes did nothing for me, being of the gay pursuasion. But I just assume the romp in bed left him unfulfilled anyway.

Well, for starters, it has had a lot of care put into it, and you can see it. It falls under the class of Things Well Done®, attention to details, deceptively simple objectives, GREAT map design, level of challenge soars, and creativity is a must for the player.
The map is truly 3D, in the sense that you cannot simply WALK thru it, you must find your way around things and obstacles such as locked gates, guards, cold-in-pit-of-stomach jumps over (literally) in between building chasms, there is a LOT to laugh at *after* you suffered thru it.
Summing it up, it's not your Thief Milk Run.
Enough talking. GRAB IT AND PLAY IT!
Best luck!
