The briefing movie is indeed excellent.
The entire mission was so good that it raised the bar for me of what one can expect from a FM. My efforts with Dromed seem feeble indeed in comparison.. Most everyone's does, don't feel bad. CC was made by a large team of truly talented taffers over many months. CoSaS is shaping up to be the BeAllEndAll of FM's - actually a whole new game! - but we mustn't let these practically professional creations disuade us from creating our own little worlds

So now I have no excuse for not downloading it, huh? I will, I will.

And, it damn near killed us in the process. Talk about burn out.

BTW, thanks for the comments.

Can someone tell me if there is a fully patched version of Calendra's Cistern ready for download? Do you have to download extra files at all, or is there an updated zip file with everything I need?
Nightwalker on 3/10/2001 at 12:21
You don't have to download the patch. Just get the Calendra's Cistern zip and it will work. The patch was created for the people who got the mission before the fix came out. It's available (
http://lserv00.math.uh.edu/thief/missions/) here. Just get the "no briefing" zip, drop it into Darkloader and have some fun. <IMG SRC="thumb.gif" border="0">

The one I have is calendra_b.zip, is this the right one?
DeimuStrong on 3/10/2001 at 18:21
Also, why should I get the "no briefing" version? Does the briefed version have bugs?
Nightwalker on 3/10/2001 at 20:22
No, I think that's the only version available. You can download the briefing seperately. A lot of people had trouble downloading it, because the mission was too large, so they split it up to make it easier. I've just never gotten the briefing and I'm not sure what you do with it, to integrate it with the mission, anyway.
Keeper of Metal and Gold on 4/10/2001 at 00:19
The briefing is quite excellently well made, im my opinion. The no-movies version is around 14 meg download, but with the movies (briefing and ending) its around 33 meg! The full version is neatly available on the T1/G FM CD as well :)
The patch was only to patch the very early first release way way back when, but it's nothing you need to worry about now.
