Okay,
here's the scoop on this buggy stuff.
I went out and bought a copy of the mag and tested it myself. First, I scanned the disc for Viruses, of which there were none. Then I looked at the contents of the zip file to make sure it had not been altered, which it hadn't. The file matched up byte for byte.
I then put it in my missions directory, launched darkloader, and played about 70% of it without any of the bugs mentioned here. The only bugs that were present are noted in the Readme file.
So, once again, use darkloader, and follow the instructions to the letter.
The sword is not needed for the mission, but it is there.

With hindsight, I think we should have changed the .zip extention to .th1 or .th2 or .thg or something like that to prevent Dummies who refuse to read direction from unzipping the missions. I'm not saying that's what "The Builder" did. This thread just reminded me of just how many people keep don't read the "how to" and go on unzipping the files and then wail about how "things aren't working right".

I am new to fan created missions. I loaded Calendra's Cistern but it doesn't seem to work right. The "use" function does not work. I cannot open doors use lockpicks or anything. I followed the specific directions for loading Thief including the latest patches and using Darkloader. Any suggestions???
Thanks!

Try checking the controls under the options menu.

I'm sure I'm the last one to finish the unpatched CC, but I just wanted to babble about it for a minute: this is a remarkable mission, even with the bugs. I've browsed through some of the old TEG threads arguing whether this is a silver or gold mission; as far as I'm concerned, for sheer audacity and originality alone it deserves gold. However, I think anyone who manages to wrestle DromEd to the ground and subdue it well enough to produce even a Bronze mission deserves a medal.... (I've made a few silly personal levels, but they'd get maybe, half a lead hammer...)
I want to thank the CC team and all those smart people who've put in the time necessary to provide us with these levels. CC is amazing--besides, it merges my two favorite things in life: Thief and SHOPPING! I loved the way the shopkeeper ran around putting everything away after I ungraciously blackjacked him. And although as a feminist (oh god she said the "f" word!) I wasn't thrilled with the bimbo artwork on the walls, the nudie pic of Mercedes at the end was really cute. Thanks for a very, very pleasant evening!!!!
P.S. A "twist" of vermouth?? That would be a neat trick. How I wish I were still young and innocent enough to not understand what's wrong with that!!!

On behalf of the team, you're very welcome!

It's intentional.

Oh, god, of course!!! How could I have forgotten that? And I've probably seen the movie as many times as the character lived that day over.... In my opinion, Bill Murray's finest role!

I think that there might be a bug in Calendra's Cistern. Throughout the start of the mission I cannot draw any of my weapons. The weapon keys do not even respond. Does anyone know what causes this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!
