Why would you have a bill from your ISP? Don't you just pay a flat rate per month?

I do. But, that assumes something like 1MB of free web space. I'm currently using over 46MB. I'm assuming that they'll tack on an extra usage fee (assuming they notice).
Thumper on 9/8/2000 at 05:08
Make that 51MB. I've just added a 5.2MB zip with only the changed files in it. Since it's not the whole set of mission files, you'll need the original release to make use of it.
The ReadMe file for this zip:
This zip contains only the Calendra files that were changed.
Easiest update method: Install calendra.zip using ThiefLoader. Unzip the contents of the CalendraChanged.zip file into your thief directory and allow it to overwrite the current files. Youu can now play the patched version of Calendra's Cistern. Drawback: Uninstalling CC will not remove the new files. You'll need to remove the contents of the obj directory and strings\missflag_no_briefing.str by hand. Also, if you decide to play CC again later after installing other fan missions, you'll have to repeat this step.
Alternatively, you can add the changed files to your calendra.zip file. Uninstall calendra using ThiefLoader. Unzip CalendraChanged.zip into an empty temporary directory. Select all of the unzipped files and directories and add them to your calendra.zip file (method varies according to the zip you're using). Do not add the temporary directory itself, just its contents. Reinstall calendra.zip.
The full patched version is available at (http://www.Thief-TheCircle.com) www.Thief-TheCircle.com (or will be soon) if you don't want to fuss with updating the previous version.

I'm uncertain yet if this a problem at your end, or at mine, but figured I'd let you know about it just in case:
When I downloaded CalendraFull.zip from your update site, Darkloader started acting funny; i.e., when I open Darkloader, I get a message saying something about it not being a proper zip directory. The program still opens, but calendra is not showing on the list of missions (yes, I saved it to same folder as the other missions). All other missions will run fine. I had deleted calendra_b.zip before downloading, and have deleted CalendraFull. I'm about to re-download, in the hopes that it will straighten out, which will take a few hours (and when I deleted CalendraFull, I no longer got the error message when starting Darkloader). I'll let you know of the results, but does anything here make sense?
*crosses fingers*

Oh bloody hell .... it was at 22% and suddenly a window pops up saying something about copying some files (I didn't catch what), and then it acts like it's done downloading. When I checked Darkloader I got "this archive is not a valid Zip archive" again. Attempting the download again, but...
Btw, I've run Defragmenter and ScanDisk, and no problems showed up there.

I have no idea why, but this last download actually worked. Who knows, maybe it failed to get the entire way through the first time as well, and I just didn't notice. Look forward to playing it again!

Glad to hear it finally worked. Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

Calendra's Cistern 1.1 is now available on The Circle. You can pick up a copy of the full mission, the mission without movies, the individual movies, or just the patch from the Circle's (
http://www.thief-thecircle.com/missions/silver/) Fan Missions Archive. Thanks Dan.
The hideaway files above will probably disappear in a few days or so.
Please let me know if you run into any bugs. Happy playing.

Before downloading the patch, could you let us know what has been fixed?
Thumper on 10/8/2000 at 21:40
Okay, here you go...
Bugs fixed in 1.1:
Spoilers ahead...
<font style="color:white;background-color:white">
* Loot
Added 5 new non-gold loot items to bring the non-gold loot total to 2150.
Two of these are somewhat hard to find.
* Surprise
There is one added surprise in the level. Just a little joke for something I thought needed some purpose.
* Store
Redid the receipts mechanism so you no longer have to visit the store first to get proper receipts. A result of this is that the receipts look like the objects being purchased.
Added stack counts to the rope arrows.
Moved the dried frog onto the counter.
* Al's house
Made it easier to satisfy the Ragnor objective.
Fixed safe so that temporary objects were properly destroyed after used.
Fixed a potential fly-away door problem.
Fixed a rapid click scramble forever bug.
Added a buzzer sound at scramble start.
Added a timer to stop scrambling if you just stand there and watch it spin.
Changed the gold nugget to have the proper store loot value.
Locked the safe door so that random keys will not open it.
Banging on the gate behind Al's house no longer alerts Tommyrot and friend. This prevents them from investigating and also prevents Mercedes from being hacked to pieces when she enters the party.
* Weeping Angel
Made smoke more transparent.
Added extra light to the ledge and changed it's texture to be more visible.
Made the cellar less lively (EAX).
Saving the game after M walks away won't cause her entire conversation to replay. Note, if you save during the conversation, it will still replay. This is just the way conversations work. I'll post more on the engine oddities I discovered at a later date.
Going in through the stairway before M finishes her conversation, sets the objective and prevents the auto map from crashing if you look at the map before M finishes.
The Calendra objective has been reworded to provide more precise information on what you're supposed to do.
Mercedes won't try to tell party guests that she's seen you anymore.
* The party
Saving and restoring no longer prevents Purah from opening the gate.
Calendra's key was bouncing invisibily on the floor. The noise it made could sometimes cause her to become alerted.
Revised the dimensions and made AIs collide with Cthulhu.
The Calendra/Dillan conversation won't repeat if you save after Dillan starts walking away (but still will of course if you save in the middle of the conversation).
Redid the pathfinding. Guards should no longer be standing on tables.
* Cemetery
Futzed around with a secret door trying to convince the engine that you weren't supposed to stick your head through it.
Removed the light block on said door.
Added a switch in the sewer to open said door.
Made sure all the gravestones collide with AIs.
Made it easier to get up to the balcony from the ground.
* The river district
Gave the river guy a patrol.
* Frat area
Removed the foot locker and left it's contents on the ground.
Fixed it's stack count.
* Textures
Fixed a number of minor texture glitches.
* Lady Calendra's house
Fixed the poison so that the access button wouldn't steal it back.
Fixed the chairs so that the guard shouldn't get stuck on them. Unfortunately, I've recently learned that he still gets stuck in the kitchen sometimes. Pathfinding is a pain.
* The Head
Removed the difficulty destroy so that normal players would see the objective.
No more need to remove one dried frog when the other is used.
The Head should now respond to the dried frog and give his little speech and the new objective under all circumstances.
* Observatory
Fixed the ceiling texture (which eliminates a trivial and unintended means of entrance). There are still at least three ways of getting in though.
Also fixed some textures and added some lights to a tunnel.
* Ruined area
Modified Mercedes behind bars to continue her conversation even though you leave the area while she's speaking. You get your new objective at a more reasonable time (rather than when you come back in range later)
Modified the keeper door so that the explosives aren't the only solution. Also got rid of the poke-your-head-through cheat. Note, you can still poke your head through (an engine physics bug that I couldn't work around without major modifications to the area) but you won't be able to reach the fountain.
* The boulder trap
Changed the shaking from horizontal to vertical to prevent you from getting stuck in the wall.
Changed the sound the boulder makes when hitting the wall to sound a little more like it was breaking apart.
Moved the boulder path over slightly to make it a little easier to dodge.
* Miscellaneous
Updated calendra.txt.
Fixed a bunch of things I've forgotten about or are too small to mention.

At least three of the problems reported were due to Thief Engine bugs that no one has ever reported before. I'll go into more detail in a future post.
