I'm pretty sure if you wait, they'll settle back down. As for me, I knocked out most of teh party members in the first two rooms, then dumped them in the pipe room, to the south. Made the party pretty easy to get through.
camelhammer on 9/7/2000 at 05:38
Oh, yeah, not just any spider, a red spider, but easily killed, since you enter the room with it from rafters above, where you can easily dispose of it (Provided you still have broadheads).

It's done? IT'S DONE?
Whoa! Off I am to merry little 33 meg download. Just wait till my friends see this.
I haven't been in the latest part of the production, but I think this'll be worth the download anyways.

What an awesome FM. I finally managed to dl it on friday night and was sitting there for 7 hours. Oh well. Furthest I've got is to the bit below the tavern. What is with the talking head it really freaked me out when i picked it up.
(When do we get another like this?)

Crap Crap Crap! Why do I make a habit of not using my blackjack. I haven't blackjacked anyone except for Whitler. And I drowned two thieves in that water tunnel pool.

Oh yeah! What's with the beggar? I ask because I noticed he *followed me*! Right at the very beginning of the mission when I walked past him into the area where you jump on the balcony. He was a sneaky taffer. I didn't notice him following me but I got back out to the balcony just in time to see him turn the corner to go back to his spot. What was he up to? Now I'm creeped out everytime I see him. I learned my lesson about blackjacking beggars and bums in Highrock, so as long as he leaves me alone I'll leave him alone.
(By the way, in the large tiled area just after you meet Mercedes for the second time (near the red spider) there is some kind of fake door or area of the wall that looks different. Is this what people are talking about. I *didn't* go into Dromed to see what was going on cause I'm not a cheater like Lytha, so I spent a loong time throwing boulders at it and blasting it with fire arrows to no avail. A clue please??!! Nice Mr. Thumper??)

I've finally come back from my vacation (in warm sun and sand) and the first thing I had to do was play CC. I've only just discovered the head so I've refrained from reading much of the stuff above.... have I jumped into too big a challenge for me? I've started it on Expert right off the bat because I knew this would be a quality mission. I'm a little puzzled on how to find the "relic" though.
I will comment when done, but so far... Purah and team, CC is absolutely incredible. I would have paid to play this.
Gripping story, beautiful architecture, fun & balanced gameplay, amazing tweaks. What I've seen so far IS gold. It truly brings Thief beyond what the original game ever was.
Who said "CC is better than Duex Ex"? Heh... well it definitely gripped me more than Duex Ex's demo.
Now let me finish CC...

Lytha, supposedly you can blow it up. That feature was added after I left so I haven't been able to test it out. BTW, the plain yellow/orange texture mistake is very close to one of them.

http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif Oh, that's not the right place to find the observatory. You have to go somewhere much higher.
camelhammer, you can actually do a bunch of things in different orders. You can visit Calendra's house for instance, long before you absolutely have to. You can help out the Head quite early. You can complete Al's house anytime. The only things you must do in order are get Lady C's shrine key before you can get the cylix and head to M's place. You don't even have to head straight to M's place. You can wander around exploring some more before continuing. There are also many solutions to the various puzzles. There are also two ways through the city. On the other hand, we did want to provide a somewhat tricky entrance into the tavern and the CC story does unfold over time so we did want to impose some ordering over the events.
BTW, the beggar is a little odd I agree.

http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif If I had a little more time, I'd make him much more of a nuisance.
Inline Image:
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I'd planned for him to stalk you around the level. Heheh.
Bruny, you're on the right track. Apparently you need something with a little more punch.
Inline Image:
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifOh, just a final note: It's possible to complete this mission on expert==Garrett, getting all the loot without ever alerting anyone (excluding the optional Head objectives and the unavoidable part at the very end of the mission). That includes sneaking passed all of the spiders. I've done it.

I've seen two of those lich face things one above the Lich Gate and on on the roof of the house past the belltower. Takes some roof jumping though.
