It doesn't seem to help anyone if all the artwork has a different direction. It's like putting together a lego car made of 10 different styles of lego blocks.

A website dedicated to SS1 remaking (for every project out there) would be better than threads in a forum. It would have downloads section with completed models for example.

People won't go to a predefined website with their SS1 project. Everyone will always believe wholeheartedly that they are a unique snowflake.
So all you can do is pick up the usable parts when they left.

I hope you have an idea of why that doesn't work. Have you ever made a texture? Perhaps a model? Try painting something from the med level. See how it stacks up to something already "released" by someone else, then try using that in a 3D render next to one of their room textures or a piece of equipment they made.
If it doesn't look like ass, I salute you.
