WOO HOO! I LOVE YOU KOYLA!
0.5 didn't work on my system for whatever reason, but 0.6 is fine. had to set processor affinity once the menu was loaded (music going stupid speed;) but other than that WOW! i'm happy.

I tried running version 0.6 with the 1280x1024 highres patch both with and without the nvidia winxp fix. But the program always hangs on the first frame of the intro movie. Any suggestions?

My mistake, there seems to be something wrong with that cdshock.exe.

Just wanted to chime in, SSP is great, but running v.6 I'm getting the failed to initialize com port errors, and random crashes.
Running win xp sp2, ati video card with older drivers.
Kolya on 20/11/2006 at 03:51
That's not the same though. The com port errors are known and can be simply ignored. Random crashes may hint at a memory problem. In which mode (DGVESA or Mouse2KV) did the game crash?
megalanuth's problem is specific to that resolution pack. I haven't worked out what's exactly causing this as there is nothing special about that pack but I'll see into this.

Actually it has gotten worse. Dgvesa is the only one that will run, and then not always. Sometimes it will hang after the first com port error, others it will get into the game and then crash. Last time it didn't crash to desktop, but one of the doors got stuck opening and closing and then my character just started spinning left full blast (Insert barfing smiley). Right now Mouse2KV Will go to the main menu and as soon as I hit continue will load the HUD then crash to the desktop. Haven't tried new game in it.
Dgvesa also threw me into a bsod once, it pointed at ati2???. I'm running omega hacked drivers on a laptop. I wonder if that is causing some kind of conflict? I haven't had problems in any other games.

I had trouble running SS-P on my laptop, too (ATI, using standard drivers though). The Mouse2KV version would hang the computer after the intro.
It seems to work fine with DGVesa, though, but I'll admit I didn't try playing for very long.
It might well be an issue with ATI's laptop drivers.

Just as a commentary, DGVESA is the preferred option and is meant to be superior to the mouse2kv option in every respect - and so far testing and user feedback has borne that out.
Which is to say that if it works for you and the mouse2kv option doesn't, then it's not really worth discussing the mouse2kv.
