I looked at the system specs and I was wondering how you think It would run. I have a
800 megahertz Pent 3
Riva TNT2 Pro (32 ram)
128 ram
Im sorry if I sound like a retard asking this cause Im sure it gets annoying but I needed to Know if I should buy it now or wait. I wasted 40 on morrowind and it runs at like 5-10 fps in cities and load time suck so I basically can't play it. I can't wait until I get all my new crap in January. Anyway thanks for your help and for spreading Arx Fatalis awareness (I didn't even know it existed until like a month ago).

If Morrowind runs slow on those specs, Arx Fatalis is going to suck mud. I've got a 1.2GHz AMD, 512 MB RAM, and a GeForce4 Ti4600 ... and while Morrowind runs great, Arx chugs at level-loads and certain points in town.

i have 1.4athalon and geforce2
i think it runs better than morrowind, but it stutters when theres lots of enemies. this is at full detail in 1024.
so yeah u will want new computer, but IMHO itll be more playable than morrowind. (morrowind kicks ass BTW. youre in for a treat with these 2 games)

I play the game on a P2-450, Geforce 2 MX, 256Mb of RAM, SB Live. While barely under the minimum spec, AF is still playable. I think your main weakness will be your 3D card. They tend to be more important than the CPU these days.
I'm, obviously, playing in 800*600 (to be honest, it doesn't seem to make much difference in the quality of the grpahics) but can happily play wit all the detail options at least midwat up (or more). I didn't even have to disable EAX sound.
The only place where I get consistent slowdowns is in Arx (the city). It's just too big for my machine to handle. But then again, Arx is not a very dangerous place so losing a few frames per second is no big deal.
Hope this helps,
Wendelius
PS: I wouldn't even dream of trying to run Morrowind on this machine. I definitely believe that AF is less demanding than Morrowind system wise.

Thanks for the imput. I think I'll buy it this weekend, it looks awesome, especaily spell casting. The system requirements are less than Morrowind but on morrowind system requirements didn't seem to mean much (I have a friend with a way worse machine than I and morrowind runs like 20-25 frames in Vivec while mine ran 3 in vivec) Guess I'll just try it and if it sucks wait until I get Windows XP, 640 ram, AMD 24000, and Geforce 3 ti500 or Geforce 4

One thing you might want to try in Arx, if you're desperate, is changing the viewing distance. When I tried the demo on my system (533mhz TNT2 Ultra) it had a big effect on the frame rate when I reduced the distance.

I'm not going to give you the minimum specs but I can tell you that the game runs perfectly (fast and all) with full details (1024x768, bump mapping, EAX, etc...) on a Pentium4 2.4@2.7GHz with 512 MB DDR333 and a GeForce4 Ti 4400. ;)
So does Morrowind, too.
