I winced at a few parts, too; some parts are obviously better than others. The reason I linked to it was because I've seen the original so many times, and I figured everyone else had too, that I thought it would at least be a change of pace to show something new.
As I read the background on the author's site, this was primarily a project to teach himself LightWave animation (his first major project), not intended to be any great work of art like the original. He just put it up for fun.
I wouldn't say your comment is trolling because that's your understandable opinion. I thought it was decent for a first project. And since I like playing with LightWave and am curious about animation in it, I have an idea of how much work goes into even stuff like this, so was interested for that reason. It looks to me like a labor of love for an amateur who has a lot of room for growth if he wants to go into animation.
