As it is my first post, I'd like to say 'hello' to all of you.
I am a great fan of system shock 2 game, I've completed it only 2 times, but both were a great adventure.
Some time ago I started to look for a remake which would upgrade games graphics, animations of enemies etc, but sadly, I've found an info, that EA owns rights for SS trademark, and it looks like they just want to dig it the deepest they can, so they can make their silly dead spaces and other games for little kids without being endangered by some good stuff.
I know, that this situation will be hard to change, I felt almost broken, when I saw, what happened to ss2: rebooted, but I didn't see a question, which I will ask now:
How much would cost buying rights for the SS trademark?
As it is maybe just my dream, to become true, it would be probably the only way, to "unlock" system shocks progress. Making a donation page highlightened on all serious SS2 vortals, then buing the trademark out of EA's hands, and making it open source/GNU/whatever making it available for all people.
Any suggestions? Ideas?
EDIT: Sorry for my bad english

Millions and millions and millions. Basically enough that other pro studios who want System Shock can't afford it.
Also, Dead Space is a great game. You should give it a try. It's definitely not for the kiddies.

According to EA they dont hold the rights to use SHODAN in a game, when Looking Glass Studio got broken up by administrators System Shock was one of the casualties and it got ripped apart and scattered to several parties each holding a certain part of the game.
The unfortunate truth is there will never be another System Shock game unless EA or someone can get all the parts back together again to allow someone to make it and retain the IP.
