That looks terrific. Very cool.
It's apparent that you've spent a lot of time and care on it.

This looks extremely good :thumb:
Like the others I love the attention to detail you put in the aft part with the logos and name. Also the Many looks great.
I still wonder about the use of the lasers, why three and why there? If they are weapons, I'm guessing your Von Braun is half-military since you never mentioned recreating the Rickenbacker, is that it? (that'd be fine by me)

The position was decided as being the most relating to current sorts of weapon platforms, sort of like a large navy battle ship has a 'battery' of weapons, and the three was just relating to the UNN's three star logo. That half of the ship is the UNN's, its kind of like a spiritual Rickenbacker but still the Von Braun as a whole.
Cheers to everyone else for your comments too, i really appreciate it :)

That is a marvellous piece of modelling, Mike_NZ. Awesome job! :thumb:
One question, though. At what point in the story would you say this representation of the ship was taken? I'm just curious since I recall an in-game computer console that shows the body of the Many wrapped around the whole of the ship in a spiral and when I saw your photos that image came to mind immediately.
EDIT: I gotta hurry to work now but when I get home I'll try to find the location of the image in the .crf files, just for reference.

Figured it would be something like that. :) I really like the thrusters (?) design on the lower part of the UNN section.
Can't wait to see what you're gonna do with that model now :thumb:

You know, that's a beautiful model and I adore your craftsmanship but it's got nothing to do with the Von Braun or Rickenbacker apart from a few logos strewn over it.

Wow, that is some incredible work. Do you make models for Warhammer or something?
Wait, we could make these models and create a System Shock tabletop game! That would be awesome!
My only critique is that the BOTM seems to be smaller on your model than in game. I seem to recall that it wrapped around a good portion of the ship.
Firefreak on 30/10/2007 at 06:37
Whow.
I second the question about Warhammer models.
As for the different design as Koyla pointed out - somehow I see drifts of the original (especially in shot 5).
I get that the laser batteries are rotatable (being a ball) ? (concept wise, not model wise I mean)
Plus: On shot 13, does the box in the background really have 'Fuc*' written on it? :p
Now all I need is a lengthy camera shot as the ship passes by (done like in the late 70s) plus some cool sound stage (engine humming and all) -- sounding the FTL drive will be difficult (does it make a high sound or deep one).
The shot then perhaps interleaved with some feeds of the security cameras (like in the game) plus some radio messages, echoing in space...
Dark music kicking in as the camera passes the Many, the cam immediately drawn down to the medical deck, passing the burning radar and into the cryo room.
Ohhh.. I need to see a new SciFi movie... badly :p

Holy crap dude! That's awesome!
Will you be making a short tech example film using the model? It seems like such a waste to not film it at all.
(I love your little homage to the Von Braun fin on the back by the way. :thumb:)
