Actually, I found something to complain about! I don't like the enemy designs. Both the robot and the zombie look pretty cheesy. Maybe it's true to SS1, but I'd rather they take a cue from SS2's freakier monsterdesign and make them more grim.

Considering that it's pre-alpha, it at least looks outstanding...however, I agree about things looking too wet and shiny. Doesn't make sense. If they have a forum, politely point out what you liked or didn't like about the preview. They seem to be pretty open folks.

They are at least reading the systemshock.org forums, since they've been posting there.

Really fascinating mix of modern aesthetics and the original blocky level design. I'm intrigued.

Considering my typical reaction for most trailers these days is immediate jaded skepticism, it's saying something that I really got into this trailer, but it helped that they opened it with SS1's opening both very recognizable and with modern graphics.

I really kind of want to add venting steam all over the SCP version of the Where Am I? level now.

I think it looks great and more faithful than most remastered titles, even with the "wet-metal" look from bumpmapping. Reminds me of Doom 3 a bit. It seems darker and creepier than the original which... I'm not so sure about. The horror of SS1 came from your vulnerability, not over-reliance on darkness, so I hope they don't go down the Doom 3 route.

Yeah, there could've been a whole lot worse scenarios. It seemed like TTLG was at the worst low 2 years ago and now there's so many promising things happening it's kind of dizzying.

The uniform and excessive shininess is pretty bad (getting some really bad Doom3 flashbacks here). Looks like there is exactly one material class the engine can do. Which is hard to believe in 2016 - so, probably just a weird art choice that can be amended as time goes by.
The rest looks very promising. Should work for the newcomers (hopefully, majority) and old fanboys like me (hopefully, soon to be minority).

It's the specular mapping that causes the wet look, bump mapping just adds depth.
Doom 3 went overboard with it too, making their specular textures far stronger than they needed to be. Tone them down or remove them completely and things look great.
