Hello. I played System Shock 2, and I really liked it, and I wanted to play System Shock, and I've heard of System Shock Portable, but I really have no idea what it is, how it works or the legality of it. If anybody could help me out, it would be appreciated.

Okay, I knew how to get it, but thanks. But, hasn't System Shock not been released into public domain? Wouldn't you need to have a copy of the game to legally download this, and then only as a back-up copy?

Legally, you should not download it at all.
Practically, the odds of someone going after you for pirating a middling-selling game from 1994 are slim.

The very first link that comes up when you do a Google search for "System Shock Portable" answers in excruciating detail what it is and how it works. As for the legality, it's abandonware. The
BIG RED STICKY at the top of this very forum lists several places to download SS1.

Incidentally, the big red sticky is in dire need of updating. It doesn't even mention SSP or ADaOB.

RIght, I knew about the legal status of dandonware, that's why I asked, since I didn't think it had been released to the public domain. And, I managed to completely miss the downloads for System Shock there. Yeah... thanks for helping, then.

Don't think I haven't tried it, but only David can update it. After the last forum migration, for some reason I lost the ability to update that post.
