Is there now any reason to install Portable over the GoG release, or is it intended just for those of us who have original CDs?

it's mostly meant for the orig CD owners and those who prefer the GOG Classic Edition (DOS) for whatever reason. if you are a happy EE player then you have next to no reason to download it.
