Hi all, I've been recently replaying SS2 with the norespawn mod and I am really enjoying it. For whatever reason, I am one of those gamers who does not like having to clear out a level twice. Once I kill something I want it to stay dead dag nab it :) Anyways, I was wondering if there was a mod like this for the original System Shock. I was thinking I might dust it back out of the closet as well, but like I said, I really don't like for things to respawn. Anyone have any ideas :)

I don't know of any mods for the original Shock.

If memory serves, the only things in SS1 that respawn are mutants & hoppers, with the inviso-mutants being the most annoying respawners, since they drop no medpacks.

Almost anything will respawn in SS. The levels are designed so that there's a minimum population, and everytime the population number goes under that limit, respawn will occur. The only exception is if you play with combat level set to '0'.

Sounds like a euphemism for "gamers who suck". Or, "gamers who think they're playing Quake, and thus feel the need to 'clear out' each level".

Respawning is just dull and repetitive for some people. I hated not being able to do puzzles because a zombie would fall out of the sky every 6 seconds. Thanks goodness they balanced it out with Bioshock, but I bet in time on newer computers that game will have problems with enemies over-generating too.

Hehehe. Funny guy:)
Last I checked, there wasn't a mutiplayer component to System Shock by which some sort of competition could be had to determine who 'sucks.' Maybe I'm wrong...but..oh wait, I'm not!
Anyways, douchbag responder that posted above aside, thanks for the replies. I know that you can turn the combat down to 0, but that really isn't what I'm looking for. That takes the challenge away. I'm just looking to take the monotony away. I take it no one knows offhand how to set that 'min. population' to a higher number by any chance?

Nuke this thread from orbit. Shockgen has become a collection of half blind idiots who couldn't find their way out of a soapbox because of evil respawns. Grow yourselves a spine you whiners. Otherwise even the Many won't take you.
