I've been playing System Shock carefully, doing regular saves incase I die.
Then I realised if you die, you restart at the last BORG conversion unit (that you switched off).
Is there a limit to how many times you can restart here? I found that health stim packs & battery packs are scarce, so if low on health or battery, why not just die and get full health/battery again, whilst keeping all items you already collected - and all enemies already destroyed?
Is this okay to do?

There's no limit on the amount of times you can be revived. There are, however, several levels where the restoration bay isn't easily or readily available from the start, and on later levels there isn't even one available. So you'd better get used on not relying too much on that tactic.

Pride (i am totally full of it :D - i just reload)? And, yes, it is OK. Go whichever way suits your playstyle.

It's funny, I haven't really believed in the regeneration stations for my own use, at least not in the last ten years. Moreso in the 90's when playing as a teenager. I save my game often, and if I die I reload. 21 years later and the game still manages to surprise me in every playthrough.
For my save games I'll usually name the level I'm on (Hospital, Storage, etc.) and the date (28.jul.15, etc), especially as my save game list fills up.

I usually rotate three savegame files during a playthrough, and I name them with the digits for the reactor code that I collect along the way:

Ooh yes, me too, for many years now. That method has worked extremely well for me. :)

Odd. He created the same thread with the same text, here and on systemshock.org.
