SS1 does not seem to save my selected video resolution. I'm forced to manually set it each time.
How can this setting be saved? I checked the config file, and there is no such variable available to me.

It's usually saved when you create a save game.
If not and you're on Vista/7, you might want to check permissions on the files in the games folder.
Note that Systemshock-Portable allows for higher resolutions.

Yes, but even with a save game, if I start up a new game, it resets back to 320x240. I'd like for it to default to 640x480 every time I load the game.
I'm running it in DOSBox

the game just works that way.

Bummer. Are there any screen resolution parameters that can be set when launching the exe?

You can select 640x480, high graphics mode and sound set-up and save the game right at the beginning. And each time you start the game load this savegame.

I know, but I want it to load at 640x480 without loading a save game, if at all possible

How often do you start a new game for it to be such a big issue? If you were D'Arcy I'd understand, but I've never had a problem with the five seconds it takes to change resolution.

I'm putting together a collection of games that I used to play as a kid, and hook them up to a launcher like MythTV/MythGame. I'd like for everything to be as smooth and automatic as possible.

I understand, but you will have to let this one go. there is no such thing as perfection in this world..
