Google-fu!

I just want SS3, but from Ken Levine.
EA would obviously continue the series if the title was popular, and therefore profitable. But now there is just a small community, and not very colorful past of the title. The prospects are very weak. So EA obviously doesn't want to risk.
The best way to interest EA, as I think, is to increase the popularity of System Shock series. For example, to create a free remake of SS2. A few years ago there was an attempt to do it, but EA just cut it off. But it was long time ago, in 2004. I think that its time for another attempt for remake. And the first step must be to ask permision from EA. So if you want some concrete actions, lets write a request and see the response from EA.

Be careful what you wish for. Last time EA released a sequel to a long stagnant series we got a pathetic game that had nothing at all whatsoever to do with the previous games (Wing Commander Arena).

It's strange how people can do a Wing Commander total conversion for Freespace 2, and EA won't bat an eye. But for anyone planning something System Shock related? Immediate cease-and-desist.
I take it, then, that EA still has some sort of plan for System Shock. While WC is dead to them.

I suspect the main reason is that the people who did the freespace 2 mod didn't contact EA and explicitly request permission to use Wing Commander in that way. If they had then I've no doubt they'd have received the same response.

Seems to be a surefire way of successfully completing mods/TCs, by bringing little to no attention to it until release day by which point there's not a hell of alot that can be done.

There's nothing stopping EA from shutting down the site that hosts Wing Commander Saga, now that the word is out.
It might be too late to keep the TC from circulating, since it's out in the wild. But EA could still be pricks, and feel good about themselves having "vigorously defended" the copyrights/trademarks. (I checked to see if they have a valid trademark on WC, and they do in both the U.S. and EU. They renewed it in late 2009.)
They just don't seem to care. If so, then good for the WC Saga team. :thumb:

I wish EA would just announce a sequel already, sick of this waiting. Nearly two decades have passed since the original arrived and graced our monitors.

They aren't going to, and even if they did it most likely wouldn't be any good.

Second that.
