We still manage to attract a few idiots now and then.

It's funny ain't it. SS2 is name checked way more often than Thief by journalists and the like, but it doesn't have any community buzz around it.
It's probably FMs or the lack of that do it.
In any case SS2 is the sort of thing people might like to read about even if they can't or don't want to play. The more recent trends/restrictions at wikipedia for game entries were necessary I guess, but are severely limited in what they offer about games now. There's academic treatises on dodgy B-movies you can look up if you want to understand their place in history better. Well resepected games could use something with a bit more detail about them too.

Except TTLG if far more about new games than it is about the old.
Ain't that a shame.
Look, I'm playing SS2 right now. I want info. Some I found on GameFAQs, in the form of extremely cumbersome wall of text you need to scroll through. Some I can't find anywhere without looking into the game files.
Besides, wikis are not only for the readers. Writing about the subject you enjoy is, well, enjoyable.
I'm not even sure what your problem is. Go over to ThiefGen and make a thread durrrhurrring about how their wiki is useless because no one plays their old game anymore and only five people care about FMs maybe?

What they said.
Sure, we all know about the basketball trick. But how many people know about stacking speed to cause damage by ploughing into a wall, or exact damage formulae? Probably the aformentioned 5/6 on this forum. Maybe there is not demand for an SS2 wiki - but what of a TTLG wiki for all LG games and sequels? Or merge with Thief wikia to make a Dark Engine super-resource? Personally I favour the former, as it could also include SS1 and its own obscure trivia, having said that, it is more work.

Well i would for one thing gladly help with it .. because i will enjoy it as koki is saying!
Maybe WE do not need it, but i do thing there are others that play this game than those on this forum.. And for those people it would be nice. And it would also be nice for to contribute with something to this awesome game :)

I think we need more projects like campaigns\FMs, that has always kept thief fresh for me and maybe it would be the same for SS2. Maybe it's harder to work with shocked than with dromed or there aren't enough story ideas?

I have often thought that TTLG should have a wiki. Not just for information about the games, but also for all the FAQs. The SS2 FAQ and guides are hopelessly out-of-date and frankly embarrassing to have at all, yet not one really wants to rewrite them all. But if they were up on a wiki, where anyone could chip in and contribute, instead of a post which only the original author or a moderator can edit, then they might actually be kept up-to-date.

Actually TTLG has a wiki: (
http://www.ttlg.com/wiki/)
It isn't editable and seems to be unmaintained since 2006. You'd probably have to ask David for permissions, then update the MediaWiki software, allow users on it and start writing something.
Meanwhile Systemshock.org is a knowledge base that exists. Look here for (
http://www.systemshock.org/index.php?topic=817.0) background information on the games.

"FleshWorks"... ugh.
Kolya on 30/8/2010 at 19:30
Correcting my post above: The "FleshWorks" wiki is editable after creating an account, although the frontpage remains locked down. The last meaningful update was in November 2008.
