Unless you want to use the editor, the latest version of DDFix has enough built-in support for widescreen resolutions that this patch should no longer be necessary.

DarkWidescreen version 7 is out.
Download:
(
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20475007/DarkWidescreen-v7.zip)
Changelog:
- Modified the horizontal mouse sensitivity to account for different aspect ratios
- Worked around the dark engine bug making the mouselook get stuck when looking directly up or down
- Added a fail message for all the cool people who don't read the readme and try to use this with the copy-protected version of System Shock 2
- Added a complete ChangeLog
(will probably not work with ddfix > 1.5.6)

Unfortunately, when I download DarkWidescreen-v7.zip, I can't open it due to corruption. (Same result using either Window's internal unzipper or 7-zip.)

Just downloaded, opens fine for me with WinZip, WinRAR, and 7-Zip.

Check that you don't have an over-zealous antivirus which is corrupting the archive because it thinks it's a virus.

Tried again -->
Direct download through the link above -- right-click and "save as" -- equals corrupted download.
Open the linked page, download from the GameFront site, and the file comes through fine.

Because you were saving
a web page. That's why clicking on it brings up, y'know, a web page.

Hello there .o/
First I'd wish to thank weak-ling for providing us with this great patch, so here I do : thank you a lot, this is awesome ♥_♥
(Do you accept donations ?)
I do however encounter some kind of minor issue with it : perhaps similarly to vorob, Thief 1 and 2 —sorry, can't test with other games since I don't have them— refuse to allow me playing at my monitor's native resolution (2560x1600, that's a Samsung SyncMaster 305T), even though I have no problem setting my desktop or some more recent games to it.
When I use DarkWideScreen to set that up (with "100" fov), any attempt at starting/loading a mission gives me the following message : « The requested screen mode could not be set. », and then the game's actually running at 640x480 with weird colours — though if I generate a screenshot it appears totally normal.
I've actually been having this issue since a pretty long time. If I recall correctly, I had first tried it with some old version of the patch, perhaps version 5, while my main computer was running Windows XP (Home, SP3, kept up to date...) with a GeForce 8800. Then I switched to an ATI/AMD Radeon HD 5k series, still on the same OS, and more recently I've built another machine running Windows 7 x64, with a Radeon HD 6950 : still having the same little problem even with version 7 of the patch.
Well, it isn't that much of a problem to me since I can actually run the games in 1920x1200 or 2048x1536, yet I thought I'd report it anyway, just in case there would be a possibility of fixing it, which would then make this patch even more awesome than it already is :D
So, if you have like a debug version or some testing tools you'd wish me to run and generate some report with, just tell me, and I'll be glad to give it a try :}

If memory serves, DX6 doesn't support resolutions that high.

While it won't make a difference for these high resolutions, you might be interested to hear that the widescreen mod was later integrated into DDFix, which itself became part of the combined patch program SS2Tool.
