Might be a colour palette thing.

So the grenade launcher icon goes missing with DDFix. Interesting.
That's not an icon. It's the actual 3D model of the grenade launcher.

DDFix works for me. My monitor (Acer AL1714) settings show correct resolution for menus.
You need to check your monitor settings if they shows your current resolution.
I figured it out, when I ran ddfixgui I had to click the patch button after setting up my custom res.

So for a 16:10 widescreen, is 100 the proper FOV for Thief? Or do I want something less/more?
Nameless Voice on 25/3/2009 at 16:53
100%.
100% is the correct FOV regardless of your resolution, unless you want to purposefully mess with the FOV.
ZylonBane on 25/3/2009 at 22:54
100 percent? Don't you mean 100 degrees?
Or does the widescreen mod (which I haven't actually tried yet) have some weird percentage-based FOV config?
Nameless Voice on 25/3/2009 at 22:58
No, I definitely mean 100 percent.
The fix automatically calculates the correct FOV, and then asks you to input a percentage of that FOV. 100% will always be whatever is appropriate for the aspect ratio.
According to the patch's author, anyway. I don't have a widescreen monitor to test such resolutions on.

This value is in percent, not in degrees, meaning that 100% is always the value that gives you the "right" field of view. This option is for people who like to play with an additional increase in fov. Modifying it results in "zooming" in or out. If you liked the way SS2 looks like on a 4:3 monitor then you should enter 100. The mod automatically takes your resolution into account. If you play in widescreen then you will see the same amount vertically and the horizontal view will be naturally enlarged to account for the widescreen aspect ratio.

Nameless is correct. I have a 16:10 (1680x1050) monitor and 100 is the value that I used. If you want to change the FoV to something other than what the game was programmed at, then put a value other than 100, but 100 works (and looks) great.

I ended up getting a different size for shock2.exe. "shock2.exe (2908160) not found, but found 281618 bytes". It's 2.3 and straight from the cd. How could exe's differ :erg:.
I'm getting "shock2.exe (2908160 bytes) not found, but found 250438 bytes, skipping...", it's 2.3 installed from the cd without any modifications. Do I really need to apply the no-cd patch to get the correct file-size, plus where can I find it?
Info on my exe:
Filename: shock2.exe
Version: 2.3
File size: 250438
Modified date: 2000-02-18 21:47:40
MD5 hash: 342f3214007ca3e5b577d156729c189f
CRC32 hash: 49B496C2
It's the untouched EU version. I'd love to use the widescreen patch since I'm getting tired of the 1024x768 on my widescreen monitor, if anyone knows a solution on how to run the DarkWidescreen, please share it with me.
Thanks!

I got a simliar error but then I scrolled up in the command window and saw that it had patched my .exe already higher up in the dialog. Also, have you already applied ddfix or not?
