OMG! Although the installation log seemed to be bugged as before (it told me i needed a bit less bytes of the thief.exe file then i had, although i've the same exe as you guys), but i think it worked! Although on my both sides of the Widescreen the walls did seem to have lenghtened, it's still great! Bless you, bikerdude and pavlovscat :). This shall bring a whole new life in my Thief gaming. That old Thief life was holding on, but weakly.
Edit: Couldn't catch any screens. Regular PrintScreen didn't work, fraps for some reason didn't either :/ (i did log there as admin)... any other options?
Thor.

I've tried all suggestions in the thread over and over unfortunately, I still can't get Darkwidescreen to work. Good thing I'm not the only one experiencing this hitch. Specifics of the problem are a few posts up, again any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

DarkWidescreen version 6 release 2 is out. This release includes some fixes for the installation only but does not add any new features. If you already have the first release of version 6 installed then you should not update to this new release.
Download:
link removed, new version below
Changelog:
- If game_screen_size is not present in cam.cfg it will be added. The mod should now work without problems on a virgin installation. (reported by Kolya)
- Added a blank log file to avoid a warning which might get confused as an error (reported by poroshin)
- Changed wording of the prompts (reported by Tej)
- Updated to the latest WeiDU (version 208)
- GPL
@trashbagjesus:
You seem to be using a version of shock2.exe that has SafeDisc (you can tell because the size is way too small). The readme clearly states that you need one without the copy protection. Get another version of shock2.exe (the one from SS2Tool has been reported working for many people).

YES! It's working after I installed kolya's SS2Tool, sorry, I should have been more thorough. Thanks, your help is very much appreciated weak-ling. Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, CoD... No recent release compares to this mod, amazing.

I agree - great mod. Just installed it, and it works perfectly in SS2. Well Done!
Went with 90 for field of view. 100 was a bit too Fish-Eyed for me.
Kolya on 14/1/2009 at 12:02
100 is default view if I remember correctly. But whatever suits you, I guess it makes for even better surprise attacks by the hybrids. :)

90 = the default FOV for 4:3, enjoy your horizontally cropped experience.

I've been out of the ttlg loop for a while, but this is pretty neat. Particularly considering the accepted consensus of the time was that the dark engine wasn't flexible with its resolutions. (I seem to remember one or more flame wars starting about dark engine resolutions).
And coming on the back of a nice new Dell 24", combined with DDfix (which I also only just learnt about) I'm going to fire up SS2 for one more run through.
Well done weak-ling.

This value is in percent, not in degrees, meaning that 100% is always the value that gives you the "right" field of view. This option is for people who like to play with an additional increase in fov. Modifying it results in "zooming" in or out. If you liked the way SS2 looks like on a 4:3 monitor then you should enter 100. The mod automatically takes your resolution into account. If you play in widescreen then you will see the same amount vertically and the horizontal view will be naturally enlarged to account for the widescreen aspect ratio.

I think I'll trust the author of this mod in this case.

ya, in fact i just checked and the cracked "shock2.exe" is 2908160
So this Widescreen mod is promoting people to download the crack version of System Shock 2 instead of using the legit version, which is contradictory to what some of the admins have said..........
