I had it 800x600 before, but after I installed the Widescreen mod, it's back to 640x480 although there is still 800x600 entered in the user.cfg.
Furthermore I noticed that Shift+Click or Ctrl+Click performs a mouse-up movement, so placing objects is getting a lot harder.

Hello!
This is my first post and as first thing to do I would like to thank you weak-ling for creating the Widescreen patch and for giving support to it.
I am a computer illiterate so when I open the read me file and read under system requirements:
"No SafeDisc copy protection"
I was wondering if there is anything I should do (I own the original Thief 2 and System Shock 2 games).
Could you guys please give some help about that?
If I understood well, after installing the games (and I guess patching them with the official patches), I should install Ddfix and Widescreen Patch respectively?
Then do I need to do any manual change to any file or is it all automatic?
Shadak at page 3 of this Topic has written a nice guide but it refers to some older versions.
Thank you very much again! :thumb:

Has anyone noticed that the mouse sensitivity seems to be lower horizontally on the widescreen resoultions?
xerkon on 3/8/2008 at 08:11
I've found with both System Shock and Thief that the horizontal and vertical speeds are not similar, with vertical being way to fast compared to horizontal, even when not in widescreen. I use my Razer control panel to set my horizontal sensitivity at 10 and vert at about 6 or 7.
Anyway, that's not why I came here to post. I just wanted to say how happy I am with weak-lings widescreen mod. I kind of stumbled upon it by accident. I was going to finish playing thief 2 (quit a while back when I reinstalled windows and never got back to it until now) and I had some problems getting it up and running again and so I came here and happened to notice the widescreen mod. It ROCKS! It's so right on when someone comes up with a mod like this that takes an old game and injects it with new life.
All I can say, weak-ling, is send me your paypal address and your next couple of beers are on me! I would have no problem at all contributing to something this game-changing! Thanks! :cheeky:

Someone had a similar problem on the first page with Thief I believe but, there was no solution posted. I'm getting this error message when setting up res and fov, everything looks to be loading correctly until after this line; Copying and patching 1 file...
shock2.exe (2908160 bytes) not found, but found 240658 bytes, skipping...
I am using v6 of DarkWidescreen, SS2 is all patched, plus iI'm using the shtup and rebirth mods.. if that makes any difference. Any help would greatly appreciated.

Same problem for me :/ Do you use pirate version? If so - that may be the case. If not, then yay xD
I have a feeling only weak-ling can help us (probably by giving us some files, which are bugged for us)
Btw i have the problem with Thief I and Thief II. And no mods as i recall, except this one...

i think you have to use the no-cd shock.exe. i think i had the same problem as you guys until i did that.
i also am using the no-cd exe for thief 2 and widescreen works with that as well.
.....
ya, in fact i just checked and the cracked "shock2.exe" is 2908160

Awesome, thanks very much for the post xerkon. I am using a purchased copy of SS2. Ignorance; the only no-cd crack I've ever used was for Tron 2.0, and a friend gave it to me. I'll do some looking but, if you don't mind.. where and how.. lol. Thanks again.

After getting major ERROR-messages in DarkWidescreen I decided to follow the steps Shadak had written down in his post:
- I opened ddfix in expert mode and changed the resolution to 1400x1050.
- I tried starting Thief 2, but it said cam.cfg's does NOT match the ddfix resolution.
- So I thought 'ok...', opened cam.cfg in notepad and changed the 1280x1024 to 1400x1050.
I started Thief 2 and went to the resolution settings. There was only one resolution available 640x480.
So it doesn't work... Can anyone help me solve this problem? Getting really tired of all those spiky edges on objects in Thief2.... :nono:

Ok, first uninstall SS2 completly, then do the following.
Installation instructionsDDfix* First download the latest version of (
http://timeslip.chorrol.com/ddfix.html) DDfix from the link above and save it to your desktop.
* Unpack the archive((
http://timeslip.chorrol.com/ddfix.html) Thief2FixGUI-1.3.11.7z) to your Thief 1/2 or SS2 game folder -
(you will need to download and install 7zip or WinRar to unzip '.7z ' files)
* Once you have done all of the above, then browse to your Thief 1/2 or SS2 game folder and double click on 'ddfixGUI' -
* You will get a little window pop up with 4 buttons and a little resolution selection box with a list of resolutions in it -
* select the resolution you want eg 1280*1024 or 1024*786 and then click on the 'apply patch'
Widescreen patch* Download the (
http://files.filefront.com/DarkWidescreen+v6zip/;10450521;/fileinfo.html) widescreen patch to your desktop, then as before unpack the contet directly to your Thief 1/2 or SS2 game folder,
* then brows to the Thief 1/2 or SS2 game folder and doubleclick on 'widescreen.bat' -
* a little black window will pop up, then type (y/n) if you want to read the readme,
* then the next step is to select the widescreen resolution you want, (in my case thats 1680*1050) first you input horizontal res (eg 1680 then press enter), then it prompts for the vertical res (eg 1050 then press enter)
* then it prompts for the FOV (field of view) then you input 100
* Once you have done all the above close the little black window
Now run Thief 1/2 or SS2 and you should now have it running in 32bit colour and glorious widescreen .
Addition info - trouble shooting* Should you need to, you can set a custom resolution manually in Cam.cfg and ddfix.ini - but make its the SAME resolution in set in both files.
* There is a known bug with DDfix where it comes up with the error "Unable to find any occurance of DDRAW.DLL in Thief2.exe or SS2.exe. Please download a prepatched exe" simple re-unzip into the the thief folder again, click "remove patch" and "apply patch" and your good to go.
* Another known issue, if you have not installed DDfix correctly Thief will sometimes come up displaying corrupt colours, this is because is trying to display a resolution it cant use - check your cam.cfg and ddf.ini files have the same resolution listed.
* In my fiddlings with ddfix and the widescreen patch I found that if you just install the widescreen patch (no ddfix) you get a multitude of resolutions(that are all usable in game) - but note these extra resolutions can only utilised on X1000 ati or older and geforce 7 or older gfx cards. If you have anything newer eg a DX10 card and or latest drivers installed and or vista installed you will HAVE to have DDfix installed otherwise as you know Thief or SS2 wont run or look crap etc.
