What is the name of the mod that fixes the bad textures on the wall? I can't find it myself. :(

Already have SHTUP installed but the walls still aren't plain grey but kinda blurry.
ps: What's up with the forum because I hardly see any posts anymore?

A screenshot would be very helpful to show what you mean. As far as I know SHTUP doesn't replace any world wall or floor textures other than those implemented by objects. Some experiments have been done using DDFIX's texture replacement capabilities but I don't know of any finished mod that applies to the game. It sounds like you have a driver or similar problem - so actually seeing what you're encountering would be helpful.
(Of course, there's also SHEMP for displays but again, I suspect that's not what you're looking for).

It's pretty quiet here these days. You can change the "Show threads from the..." option on the forum page to show older threads.

I will try to make some screenshots and then you can see what I mean by ugly wall textures. ;)
Ah, gonna check that option.

All the SS2 wall textures are only 128x128 (maximum). Depending on how much of a graphics whore one is, they're gonna be "ugly".

When compared to newer games

With DDFix's texture replacement feature it would now theoretically be possible to do a "wall texture mod". The problem is that it would be a HUGE effort. There are many more terrain textures than object textures, and they tend to be much more elaborate than the relatively simple object textures. You'd need a team with actual artistic talent to pull it off.
It's almost an all-or-nothing proposal as well. You can get away with piecemeal updating of object textures since they come in so many different shapes and sizes, but mixed-resolution terrain textures would, I imagine, clash terribly.
On the other hand, a terrain mod that leaves the resolution the same but selectively upgrades the color depth of textures with obvious posterization artifacts would probably be doable.

I seem to recall an ss1 mod that applied some filtering to a few ss1 textures to make them look a little smoother. I'm not really suggesting that but can ANYTHING be automated in a batch file or something to quickly plow through every terrain texture and make small changes to it that would almost always make it look a bit better? Maybe like increasing the colour depth as you mentioned?

Why is it that all the big texture/object mods seem to be made by people with self-proclaimed lack of artistic talent?
