Before I begin, i'd like to say it is absolutely amazing there is a community solely dedicated towards the legacy of System Shock 2, shame I can't be a part of it for I admit to having never played the game.
You see, it was Deus Ex that really got me into PC gaming, I enjoyed everything about it...well spar the combat ^_^ but I digress...i've played pretty much everything on PC now...except the System Shock series. I've seen gameplay videos, story segments and i'm drooling to play this and furfill my nostalgia freak!
Just a few questions I hope you can answer:
1) Can the game still be purchased from Looking Glass as a download, or bought anywhere else cheaply, like a GOTY edition?
2) Has the game be known to have issues on Windows Vista? (It won't surprise me).
3) What patches or community add on's do you highly recommend?
That's all, I really am itching to play this, any reply's would be greatly appreciated!
Kind regards,
Andrew.

There isn't. TTLG is dedicated to the legacy of Looking Glass Software. SS2 is just a part of that.

Hi people, i´m playing System Schock 2 for the first time and i´m loving it :D, and i have some questions, i have found some magazines, but what can i do with them? i can´t use them, should i drop them away from my iventory? is there a limited number of enemys per area? or they just simply can´t be wiped out in each area? everytime i think i´ve killed all creature in a area sudenly more appear after a while. and what skills would you suggest me to upgrade more in order to make the game easier?

you can find a bunch of junk items (like those magazines) in ss2,they serve no real purpose (well, you can examine them to get some background info-select the question mark in your inventory and click on the magazine).you can recycle them in a recycler,if you manage to find one,but they will only give you 1 nanite,so its not worth to keep them in the inventory..enemies will respawn,so it is impossible to "clean out" an area completely, the game does this to keep you busy all the time..as for skills, see the (

While it's true that the junk items only give you 1 nanite a piece, there are so many of them throughout the game that it adds up after a while. What I usually do is find a place somewhere in each level to throw away all of the junk that I accumulate, so when I get the recycler I can come back and recycle everything. Be careful, though, and don't store items to close to elevators or bulkheads, as sometimes items can be caught in level transitions and disappear completely.

It mostly depends. Strength, Agility and Endurance are three of the most useful skills, as they increase the amount of stuff you can carry and how much damage you do with melee weapons, how fast you can run and swing your melee weapons, and how many hitpoints you have, respectively. Any player should upgrade these at least a little.
Beyond that, if you plan on mostly using guns and melee weapons, you'll also want to upgrade your weapon skills like Standard, Heavy and Energy, as well as technical skills like Modify for enhancing your weapons and Maintenance for keeping them in good shape. If you plan on hacking a lot of things, you would instead focus your skills towards Hack and Cyb. Affinity, and then use whatever's left to upgrade your weapon skills. If your playing Psionics, then most of your modules will probably go towards your Psi powers, and if you have any left after that and your basic skills I mentioned earlier, you could put them into either weapons or hacking.
Really, it's completely dependent on how you're playing the game. Also, it's not about making the game easier, but more about making sure you can keep up with the growing threats being thrown at you.

Thanks for your tips Enchantermon and voodoo47
ZylonBane: If you mean games where the player can upgrade skills, then i guess i have played a few like system schock, i played Ghotic 1, 2 and 3, played Risen, played Morrowind and Oblivion, played fallout 3 and now i´m playing Fallout new vegas, played bioschock 1 & 2, played deus Ex 1 & 2, played recently singualrity, Archangel, and so many other games where the player can develop his/her skills.
oh and by the way what was that post about saying i was spamming concerning my topic about thief 2 visual bugs? In case you don´t know TTLG forums is like a second home for me with friends that are my second family, all i want is the best for this forums and not troubles, i have contributed as much i could to the thief community and i still contribute, so don´t come treat me like i was an outsider guest to place in the black list, unless its something personal you ´ve got against me, wich honestly i don´t know what.

system shock 2 - the best game. At the time of its appearance is nothing equal in quality and the plot was not. And put a patch to improve the graphics - even now she looks really not bad. Playing at night in the ears - diapers spent one by one - these monkeys .... Overplaying it over and over again - there are no words ....
The only thing I still lies ahead is bioshock, but as long as the complex does not allow its normal poyuzat as soon buy viduh type 9600gt, once the fight - it's too beautiful world just to get it on the minimal salary. And the idea of game-Taken from SYSTEM SHOCK.
probably find deusex-probably pass ..... but system shock 2 - the best!
