Howdy!
i'm attempting to setup an SS2 rpg game. if anyone has ever seen/played the doom board game, it offers map tiles that can be placed together for a customized area as well as weapons and powerups. i'm looking to do the same.
any suggestions where i can find a good map layout of the vonbraun/rickenbacker ? not so much the map layouts, but someway to actually print them out from a top down point of view.
would anyone be able to help me out on my quest to make up an SS2 rpg?

Wow, here I thought I was the only one working on a P'n'P System Shock game. Infact I'm getting ready to run it in a few minutes for the first time. Basicly I and a few friends have been working on converting the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay system for a while now. I'll let you guys know how things turn out.
As for maps of the ships, I don't think you will get much better than using the maps from the game. Those are already in a nice top-down view and fairly well detailed. After a little bit of checking someone made them a little more detailed here... (

Sorry if I bogarted your thread.

I actually thought, when playing SS2, that some of the odder stats (CYB etc) were taken from a PnP RPG.
One major problem with the maps is that they make no sense in the context of being a ship that people live and work in, they don't fit an shape seen in videos, and different areas in the same deck don't even match up.
Now that you mention it, a bit of DM expression might go well with the SS2 setting. Survivors here and there, that may join the "party" or help out in other ways. A scientist that can research Toxin-A or Exotic weapons for you. Unfortunately, anyone who would be interested in playing it would probably already know what happens.
Are you basing this on an existing RPG system, or making your own?
EDIT: Hi Jazz :)

Well, that was a fun session. The System Shock universe really does lend itself well to pen and paper games, especially those that are geared towards a more victim class play style.
Lukey, do you have an idea of the type of game mechanics you will be wanting to use? We might be able to swap some notes.
Ax, you're probably right about the stats. I'd say they're close to being like the White Wolf dot system. Also, how's it going? I'm probably a different Jazz than you might know, but it's always nice to say hi!

If I had a SS2 PnP game i'd try something more interesting than repeating the games.
Make up new stations or try something fun like 'What if SHODAN made it to Earth?'

Hopefully that will be something that happens with my game. I didn't spend a lot of time coming up with a bunch of civilian and military careers for nothing. To make testing the system out a bit easier I did use the Von Braun, although, the Rickenbacker is no where to be found...

"Lukey, do you have an idea of the type of game mechanics you will be wanting to use? We might be able to swap some notes."
i currently use star wars miniatures and their maps ((
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/3/32/Star_Wars_Miniatures_in_play.jpg/300px-Star_Wars_Miniatures_in_play.jpg))
, id like to use the "Zombies!!!" zombies and dogs for baddies, unless i can find a good pre-painted zombie-esque model.
id really like to use an actual map and not just have to describe my environment.
I like the "XP" distribution in SS2, i also like the stats layout. So i'd be fine with keeping those. I figure a d20 could be used for spawning zombies. im not sure how i want to do the actual spawning.
id like to also add a protagonist? or is it antagonist? someone with their own personal agenda, kinda like anatoly, who wants to do the will of the many, but the other plays dont exactly know what hes up to.
also, for scenarios, i was thinking have an earth based mission where the players start off in small training battle, and are then sent on their mission. this way the players would be familiar with the rules/processes and would eliminate game delays during those exciting "were surrounded!!" times
what additional career choices did you add?
EDIT: the rpg system would be based off of the SS2 skills and such, but with a few abilities added. maybe have 5 of those OS upgrade slots and more implant selection. even increasing the number of items that can be hacked/repaired/modified. allowing doors to be "hacked" as traps.

I, too, have hosted a System Shock game. D20, to be specific. I recommend you take a look at the book Year of the Zombie, as many of the themes in a zombie invasion can be interpreted and applied to SS.

I keep trying to post here, but it seems my ideas are too awesome for this thread :/

so im thinking the first mission/scenario would be an earth based training mission, players would pick their class and such and do a simple battle against some mercenaries/renegades.
then theyd get shot off into space to investigate the return of a missing spacecraft and theyd go on and itd be all quiet and deserted and itd go from spacestation to spacestation destroying all of the mutants and creations.
