Just an FYI: This works really well.
1) Install the game. I didn't even have to use -lgntforce.
2) Use SSTool to get the game "mod ready". This installs all the patches and fixes necessary.
3) Use SSModTool to install SHTUP and Rebirth.
...that's it. The game runs, and just works. If you can't use inventory items, save your bindings and they start.
Looks good in 8xAA. :-)
Do the cutscenes work for you? I'm on Windows 7 64Bit and I can't get the cutscenes to work.

I have Windows 7 RC 64bit and it works for me. I followed the (
http://www.strangebedfellows.de/index.php/topic,520.0.html) video guide at sbf with a few changes.
The last step will report, that it does not find ir50_32.dll. So i searched and found 2 occurences of the dll in my system. One of them is in c:\Windows\sysWOW64. Registering that was working for me. If its not working make sure you ran the command prompt as administrator.
Also I need to run SS2 as administrator to make the cutscenes work.

I added an according line to that guide for Windows 7 64bit. Could you check if it works correctly, NoMis?

That fixed it for me as well (on the 32-bit build). Thanks! :thumb:

I just made some research to find out what the sysWOW64 folder is all about.
(
http://blogs.msdn.com/gauravseth/archive/2006/04/26/583963.aspx) Here is a good readup if someone is interessed.
It's basically a folder for all 32 bit dll's on a 64bit Windows OS. While the system32 folder holds the 64bit dll's. Confusing huh? ;)
So the same procedure should apply to Vista 64 bit as well (and probably to any 64bit windows version if I understand the article correctly), althought I don't know since I have no Vista installed.

Well, it works for me ;)
Would be cool if someone could check this on Vista 64, because it should apply there as well (see text above).

Sorry to dig up this thread but I recently felt the urge to play SS2 again but cannot make it work on Win7 64bit.
I've read through this thread, the WinXP How-To and also went through (
http://www.strangebedfellows.de/index.php/topic,106.0.html) but cannot get it to work.
I can get into the menu but when I start a new game it starts loading, it flickers (like a resolution change) and I get dumped to my desktop with a "stopped working" error.
I've installed the game from the original disc, ran SS2Tool_v2.9.1 with all options selected, set resolution to my screens native resolution and (manually) installed Rebirth and SHTUP. Affinity is set at one core and I'm running the game as admin.

I had the exact same problem. Installed everything according to the FAQ's at SBF and still had the crashing issue with the videos.
It was the nvidia driver that caused the problem for me. It was an event log entry that mentioned some nv***.dll (can't remember which one) that got me the clue. Installed a new version of the driver and all was working again.
The funny thing was, that I installed it for later play and all worked. Finally when I wanted to play it crashed. Pulled my hair out since I did not changed anything. Well anything but the nvidia driver ;)
