You need to fix your keyboard mappings, which are apparently the messed-up GOG ones. You should, at the very least, have:
Psi Amp = `
Wrench = 1
Pistol = 2
Shotgun = 3
Assault Rifle = 4
EMP Rifle = 6
Laser Rapier = 7
Grenade Launcher = 8
Stasis Field Generator = 9
Fusion Cannon = 0
Crystal Shard = -
And then I highly recommend, so they're right under the reload key:
Change Ammo Type: f
Change Weapon Setting: v
To research a researchable object... just right-click on it.

Ya at 4:30 in the video I try to see if number bindings work, but the Hybrid inturpts me. I figure out in episode 5 the mouse wheel can change weapons, but I was unaware specific weapons could be bound to number keys. I'll do that in episode 6 then. Thanks. :D

Jesus dude, that end bit must have sucked ass. You should have chosen the auto-save at the bottom of the save screen, then you would have started right after you dealt with those laser turrets. I have done this mistake myself, on my most recent run in fact...
Well look on the bright side, if you haven't repeated this section yet already you can at least pay the security station a visit that I mentioned in my youtube comment, and you now know the turret roadblock ahead of time and can prepare better. :)
Also you did in fact buff all damage done to hybrids by 25%. You don't notice the difference easily because the damage resolution is very low, you deal a lot of damage per wrench swing. I guess that if you increase your strength by 1-2 levels or standard weapons by 1 level you'll take down pipe hybrids in 1 hit and shotgun hybrids in 2.

On the bright side, you really only lost about 2 minutes of progress. The worst part will be sitting through the Many vision again. Make a fresh save slot after that. Seriously.
As you may have noticed, you're coming up on an area where it's very helpful to be able to hack security.
