Lately YouTube seems to take its sweet time switching between resolutions. Very annoying.

YouTube tends to do a lot of shit on my end, such as finishing playing a video before it is actually finished, or redownloading cached data for no reason at all.
gnartsch on 2/6/2013 at 09:49
Or pausing the video because it ran out of cached data - and a minute later resuming with audio only, but the video is stalled.
And nothing gets it going again, except for a refresh on the entire page. Even with 360 resolution!
Can't imagine what is so hard to provide the required data to me via broadband.

Yeah, a screw up on their end is probably most likely. I've seen it a couple of other places now.
It's a weird one though, 'tube is quite convinced its playing the high res version, but it ...isn't.

The finale comes out on Wednesday, so look forward to not only that, but also my future plans for the channel!

Why does the Body of the Many have lights in it? Because it's not just a body, it's a home to the Many.

And here it is!

Oh c'mon, compared to "Nah", SHODAN looking surprised at getting shot in the face was nothing.

If you change the resolution mid-viewing I'd recommend jumping back to the start of the video, otherwise the resolution change doesn't happen.
Appears to have part of the recent video cache changes, as all videos now appear to download to your PC in bits rather than the complete video downloading in full to prevent people from grabbing copies of them.
Quite annoying if you like to download youtube videos for later rewatching.

Aggressively lazy caching has been there for quite some time already (it's their player only afaik as i have never encountered any problems with just downloading the video). The recent changes (afaik again) is that resolution changes are supposed to take effect on the fly ~ ie. without stopping the video (effectively streaming two resolutions simultaneously for a shot duration). Unfortunately, it almost never works in my case as it seems to get stuck in synchronization lock and hence the gear keeps spinning indefinitely with no resolution changes ever taking effect. Seeking, expectedly, breaks the lock.
