The interface... Never mind. XD
It definitely suffers from its age but the game's interface isn't too bad once you get into it. If you prefer there is a mouselook mod which is bundled with (

Ehhhh... it's bad enough that one of Irrational's major design goals when starting SS2 was coming up with an interface that didn't suck so much. I've played giant mech games with less-complicated interfaces.

System Shock 2's interface is definitely much more accessible - Irrational did a good job. The first suffered from copying elements from the Underworld games but there wasn't an established convention for first person games at the time. At least the keys for moving, leaning and crouching were useful in SS1 unlike its predecessors.

the mouselook mod can help alleviate that control clunkiness for quite a bit - it took me a while to find a way of control that was comfortable (basically using mouselook when running around and looking for stuff, and disabling it for combat and item interaction), but after that, it played nicely. you should definitely give it a try.

I always have enjoyed the non-linear thinking in design...;)
...and Syy, use ranged weapons for spiders!

You've walked right past the resurrection station on the Command deck about three times now, I think.

Have I really? Where is it? (Not that it really matters anymore.)
