I have installed this before with no problems. But now it stops on snd2.crf. It copys for a while and then says there is a cyclic redundancy problem and it can't copy the file. I tried a manual copy and get the same thing. Is there anything I can do? Or are my ss2 days over? Thanks for any help!

seems like damaged/dirty cd to me.clean it and try it in some other drive/pc,if it gives you the same error,you will either have to look for a new cd on ebay or find some other way of getting the required file.

Well I guess I am screwed as far as System Shock 2. I have 2 copies of shock 1, but only the one of 2. Oh well I have played all I wanted of everything except return to the unn. I don't know how to get the snd2.crf file from anywhere else. Is it even legal to get another copy from someone else? I have the original registered, and payed for cd. if anyone knows how, please post. I will have to wait on buying another as I recently lost my job due to the bad economy. Try reading the disc in the best quality burner you can get access to, e.g. a DVD+RW drive. Burner drives are usually a lot better at reading damaged discs than plain readers.
If that still fails, you can use a damaged disc recovery program (such as CDCheck) to try to recover the damaged file.

Okay I tried cdcheck and it had a lot of errors, but recovered the file. I was able to install and have been playing a bit. I guess i won't know if it worked for sure unless I solve the game with no problems. But thanks so much, just to be able to install it and play a bit is great. Hope I can make it through without problems. Thanks again for all your help.
BTW I also have your Nameless Mod and it is excellent so far as well. :thumb::cheeky:

Well I fininshed the game. Man that last level with the many is hard. Only 16 logs have problems. Two in hydroponics and 16 in operations. Only four have no voice, but the game runs flawlessly thank goodness. Instead of getting the snd2.crf file from another source, is there a way to get just those logs and drop them in the snd2.crf file that installed off the retail cd? Would this fix the problem? Probably too much trouble to find the pertinate logs in that big zip huh? Thanks for all your help! I'm just glad to be able to play. Now to try that last addon! :thumb::cheeky:

Testing the archive (with any archive program, e.g. WinRAR) should tell you which files inside it are unreadable.
