Hey all-
I'm working on a fan project and I've run into a wall that the wiki hasn't yet been able to help me with - can anyone tell me how the game determines the number of ICE nodes present in a hack? I assume it has something to do with the final difficulty of the attempt + the player's CYB stat + perhaps whatever skill is appropriate for the attempt (Hack, Repair, Modify), but I'd really like to know the nitty gritty details if anyone is able to tell me.
Thanks in advance...

Before I can answer I'm going to need to know whether I'm addressing multiple robots, or a single robot with multiple personality disorder.

You may want to head over to systemshock.org. That's undoubtedly one of the biggest mod communities. You could ask future questions there.

I think the number of ice nodes is directly related to the hack difficulty, so it should be the hackdiff setting on the object minus 10% for each point in hack, 5% for each point in cybernetic affinity and any implant and OS bonuses that apply.

Yeah, I've understood that much, at least - I'm hoping to be able to replicate the calculation (as in, how many ICE nodes appear based and if it is indeed based on that final difficulty score) in an unrelated application. Thanks!
I may just be able to figure this out just by starting a couple of different character builds and hacking some secure crates. But if somebody already knew, I'd happily absorb the information and be on my way.

This is true - if I can't get an answer here, I'll head over there next. It might be just I haven't been on the TTLG forums for a long time and wanted an excuse to come back =)
