or you know, you could say good job, its brillliant that you have enough love for SS2 to even do this.
NEGATIVITY ITS WHATS FOR BREAKFAST
People don't create mods to earn smiley face stickers, they create them to be
used. This mod is not useful. In fact it's kind of the opposite of that-- it's pointlessly wasteful, trying to shove an HD video stream through a low-res frame buffer.

It's not just that 1280 cannot be played. It's also a fundamental misconception that you could get better quality from a low res source by scaling it up and slapping some filters on. You should read up on Interpolation because it doesn't work that way.
If you have some crappy 128 bit MP3, do you expect that reencoding it at 390 bit and adding some reverb will make it sound better?
I blame Hollywood for kids not getting this.

I wouldn't dare say "I don't agree" without "backing it up" to anyone of you on this subject, considering all the important shit you've produced for the good old Dark so far, but I really think you need to work on your communication skills. You've practically beaten the guy up to a pulp with his own stick, just because you didn't like it.
Before kicking his ass, give him at least one smiley face sticker, ffs. :)

considering his overheated attitude, cold treatment is no surprise. anyway, I don't really see any beating going on - it's just that he apparently needed to have things explained very thoroughly.
also, there is no point in continuing this - maybe it's time to close the topic down, and perhaps change high definition in the subject into upscaled. potatoes should not be called tomatoes.

That's the problem, in my opinion...

I'd prefer to change the subject. Closing down topics in a half-dead forum just because you have nothing else to add doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

RejZoR is also--probably unfairly--receiving the cumulative ire from being the third or fourth person to try this. We react to "high-res" cutscenes like physicists react to perpetual motion machines.

@voodoo47: Whatever DraQ is planning to do with the mechanics sounds a lot like what GMDX does. It's a lot of rebalancing to change how the game plays. I do like GMDX and hopefully whatever he/she creates, if he/she ever touches ShockEd that is, would be good to play, but it's going to require a lot of work. But I'm interested in seeing how System Shock 2 plays with those altered mechanics. I know that many people complained about the weapon skills affecting shooting in Deus Ex too, complaining along similar lines that a special nanoaugmented agent shouldn't have to spend points just to shoot straight. The same sort of argument can be put there too, it's mainly to facilitate gameplay and provide for more variety in the builds, because if you could shoot well at the base skill level, why ever invest points into it?
voodoo47 on 14/6/2015 at 13:41
I reckon you wanted to post that in the DE subforum.
Dev_Anj on 14/6/2015 at 14:31
No, I just found that it was striking how DraQ's complaints about the weapons not being usable until you invest points in a skill is similar to people complaining about how weapons fire poorly at low skill levels in Deus Ex.
I do think that if DraQ makes that mod, it would be interesting to see how the game plays and how people react to it.
