Hello fellow SS2 enthusiasts. I post here today about a new networking solution called (
http://www.hamachi.cc) Hamachi has made an appearance in recent months. It allows people with an internet connection to establish secure connections over the internet in a manner similar to virtual private networking regardless of network topology and in a decentralized fashion. This means you don't have to worry about port forwarding, and that anyone on the internet can reach your computer despite NAT's. It's basically just like having a LAN on the internet. Best of all, it's absolutely free and there's no bloat, ads or anything -- it's an extremely clean, simple and straightforward app.
That said, I've set up a SS2 network for easy game setup and player arrangements. Here's the info:
Network: SystemShock2
Pass: insect
I invite anyone interested to join up. You'll be glad you did.
Cya there!

And on the fourth day, the Lord did say unto the masses:
Go and fucking get this, it rocks! I'm in the middle of a MP game with Vurlix at the moment, and it's just soooo simple.

Seriously, I should re-iterate, GET HAMACHI. It renders Trip's multiplayer list pretty useless, really.
TriOptimum Entertainment ltd. is proud to present:
WWF Von Braun Smackdown, this week featuring 'Vandal' Vurlix & 'Amoral' Ajare in brutal tag-team action against The 'Mental' Many, LIVE from some spaceship trillions of miles away from Earth. Be there*, or be like a flattened cube!
It's strange, you'd have thought that two players would find Hard a lot easier than one player on Impossible. That's what (lack of) cooperation does for you. I lost count of the alarms set off, even though it was my job as Navy to deal with them, and Vurlix would usually bail me out with Remote Electron Tampering. It would also have helped if we had played our characters a bit better - I ended up basically a Marine with hacking (and for a period, no ranged weapons), and Vurlix a PSI guy with research and a laser rapier :erg:. Talk about the odd couple :D
Anyway, we stuck together pretty well, which made the game more fun than a simple race to complete the objectives.
Vurlix would disappear mysteriously from time to time, claiming that he was off 'researching' something, while I bravely took out a worm. I think he was just scared, and hiding in chemstorage.
He did help me out in the sim room/spider trap:
Vurlix: you got the sim card?
Ajare: yes
Vurlix: well off you go, it's all yours
Ajare: no way, you're coming to help me
Vurlix: no I'm not
Ajare: yes you are
Watching five (?) spiders chase him round in circles as a distraction was absolutely hilarious, until two of them saw me. I also ended up getting every weapon under the sun dumped on me - at one point I had two pistols, an AR, a broken SFG, a broken EMP rifle, a laser rapier and a laser pistol.
We're currently just at the end of Ops, and will be finishing off (hopefully) tomorrow.

Hello,
thanks for providing us with this really good tool, it has finally fixed the problems that my friends and me experienced with our routers/firewalls.

But the SS2 network only supports 16 members :(

We should get a TeamSpeak server running as well, so that way we can both be able to play, and be able to coordinate effectively.
And there is the slight problem of the user limit as well. Kinda hard to get in. So I made another Network for the time being.
Network Name: System Shock Deux
Password: insect (Easier than having multiple passwords, eh?)

Damn ting sure filled up fast enough :erm:
Perhaps another server...
...like "SSArena1", "SSArena2" and "SSArena3" pass: "rocket" which i have just created
These "shockers only" rooms are open for all u guys to use whenever u like :thumb:

Ah, I've figured out how Hamachi works: They (pretty stupidly, I might add), also count offline people towards the server limit.

Now all we need is to figure out hwo to get this to work for fan missions.
Then again ahving an EASY way to find players is sweet. Still, I wonder if this helps with the problem of disconnects and getting out of sync because thats what killed my multiplayer experiance.

Yes, some documentation would indeed be helpful.
Edit:
Okay, we believe we got it figured out (We, being Rocketman and I.)
You start Hamachi, you get so that you can ping each other and such, and then you start a new game. You then enter the Hamachi IP of the host, and it will connect. Pretty simple, in retrospect. Course, hindsight is always 20/20.
