I really don't understand this move, can they not just keep the original available to purchase?

Probably they want the remaster to be the only listing in the store to limit choices so that more people find their way to the remaster via search and that there would be less confusion which one to buy for people new to the game (and of course they want them to buy the remaster).

And then you'll pay €28,99 for the remaster, instead of €9,99 for the original.

It is also being delisted from GOG and Epic as well.

Yeah, it's the price that's really a stickler for me. I just don't see System Shock 2 as a game being worth 30 bucks, no matter how remastered it is. But I'll probably buy it off a 80% sale some time in the future.

I just carry my old standalone SS2 install, with several mods on, from computer to computer every time I build a new one. At this point I can't even remember all the mods that I've put in, all I know is that it's tuned just the way I like it, and it's the version I keep coming back to. But I've played the remastered and I think they did a very good job.
