System Shock 2 - Big Box Variations

I own two U.S. versions of System Shock 2, and they feature different front covers. Can anyone supply any additional information on these two box variations?

Normal U.S. Version

Very good question. Two days ago I got a comment on Youtube, someone telling me "Thank god i found your sshock2 walkthrough of the xbox version". Must be a common problem, I guess.

Thanks for the responses, ZylonBane & Acantophis3rD! My mistake - what I meant was, it is the U.S. release.

Any ideas on why these boxes are so different?

They were printed in a different way, probably in different tranches. Things like this...just happen.

Surely for a reason, though. I'm trying to determine if the glossy box is special for some reason.
