I have noticed that both games run at 100% CPU usage.
FMs for both games run badly in places with custom objects and sometimes for no obvious reason at all.
System Shock 2:
~SS2 Tool v2.4
~SS2 Mod Manager v0.0.3.39 (v0.0.4.2 crashes)
~DDFix v1.3.11
Thief 2:
~Patch 1.18
~DDFix v1.3.11
~DarkWidescreen v5r2
My PC:
AMD 64 X2 4800+
Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9
4 x 512mb Corsair TwinX
Powercolor HD 3870
AC97
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3
Catalyst 8.5 (no Control Center)
ATI Tray Tools v1.4.7.1193
[Edit]
I play both at 1024x768
Ive tried with and without DDFix
Ive tried alternating my GFX card to Max Quality and High Performance
SS2 FMs:
~Ponterbee v2
~UNN Nightwalker
T2 FMs:

Several people on the forum already reported that Dark Engine games (and other games as well, Gothic 2 for example) are unusually slow for them on Radeons HD3xxx (2xxx is probably affected as well). Looks like bug in ATI 2xxx/3xxxx drivers - with DX6/7(?) support (OR deliberate design decision to cut sth off). I have Radeon X1xxx and speed is fine in DE games.
for the time being download ddfix 1.1.1 (this version specifically!) from Timeslip's website - it uses DX9 instead of DX6, and see if it helps with speed (it should - was already reported it does help).
until/if ATI fixes it, it's better to avoid their DX10 chips if you plan to play older DX games on them.
also, please submit this bug to ATI using this form:

OMG!!! thank you so much, it works awsomely for both games.
Is there any particular reason the latest versions don't use dx9?
It'd be sweet if the DDfix had multiple render modes like sfall for fallout 1 & 2.
[EDIT]
A new problem has arisen, now when I frob a container in System Shock 2 the game crashes, please help!
frobbing other objects works fine so far.
